1.Mackenzie outstanding in midfield and then solid as the emergency centre back, great goal too 2.Ogie 3.Little
What a game and we really rode our luck at times, they hit the woodwork at least three times. That's two good teams at Priestfield out of two for the start of the season and we've taken maximum points again. However, even though I say we rode our luck, there were long spells where the they struggled to break us down and gave Morris very little trouble in front of goal. We did such a good job that Ogie was struggling at the end with what looked like an injury, hope he's ok. Having only conceded one goal in four games we couldn't ask for better, even if the gods have been on our side at times, and on the back of some poor refereeing. Having said that I always saw the red card coming for one of three of our back four, it was just a matter of time in waitng for the referee to get a full house on his bingo card. Hutton and Nolan are combining well with some decent balls in the box and had Chesterfield all over the shop at times, Ehmer probably could have added a second but the ball just flew in a little too far off him to make that final connection. It was a hard watch, no lie and Dobra was a handful, I think he resulted in at least two of our player bookings and I felt if anyone was ever going to go down in the box it was him. But all three points it is, that's the only stat that matters and top of the league. Next up in the league is Doncaster Rovers away, for what will be our most difficult challenge to date, so if we bring anything home, I will be happy. 1. McKenzie with the goal that mattered 2. Ogie our warrior 3. Hutton, played the full ninety, didn't get a card and put in some decent balls....along with Nolan I should add, but I can only pick one.
1. McKenzie - solid at the back - especially after Ehmer saw red -- and a good goal 2. Lapslie - didn't stop running 3. Ogie - really stepped up after Gills went down to 10. Chesterfield were unlucky - disallowed goal - fabulous free-kick (deserved a goal ! ) - hit the woodwork a couple more times..... and gave Hell to Clark - and sent over several crosses - which, had they been for Gills, I would have been livid that no goals were scored. Andrews showed what we've been missing up-front - winning battles and the ball. I will take lucky wins - but - I am sure that we have much, much more to give when we can choose from uninjured / unfit fit players.
1 McKenzie. Mr Versatile. Has really played well in midfield this season. Think better there than full back and again as centre back 2 Ogie. Got early booking but didn't effect him was nearly as good as McKenzie 3 j Clarke . Again much better than last season and helped out Clark in defense Overall a very hard game where we scored only goal but hit woodwork twice while they hit it 3 times and goal disallowed.
