39 contenders for 'Star' performer ! The number of Gills fans last night was 476.... and yet the allocation of 515 tickets had been sold out ( apparently ) - I can only assume that 39 people had come to their senses and stayed at home.
Another poor performance from the team. Never looked like winning and rarely looked like scoring. We look more like a relegation team than a promotion team. Clarke Turner McKenzie
I can only agree with every single comment above... 1. Turner (nose) 2. McKenzies (goal) 3. Jayden Clarke - one can only do what one can do with the shower around them, and I'm not talking about the weather...although that was probably more interesting than the game. I've never been one for sacking managers, and as much as I like Mark Bonner something has to change. Whether we like it or not it's a results business, results control the stream of your finances, Brad & Shannon took the club over at great expense to them, and later grief when it comes to Scally - they need some sort of return and love can't come into it. I'm sure I don't need to tell Mark, he knows the score, but everyone of those players needs to ask themselves what is going on and what needs to be done to put it right...don't look at MB, look at yourselves. I'm not one for jumping up and down, but some fans are starting to get very agitated so sort yourselves out and fast. They had eleven days to prepare for this game, it's not good enough. Now I'm off to read twitter.
Is changing the manager really going to make a difference though? Don't get me wrong I'm not happy with only 1 win in 9 games, but this bunch of players has consistently done this now under 3 different managers (4 if you count the 6 weeks Millen was in charge) and if you look at what Harris is achieving with Millwall, and that Bonner previously had success at this level surely it must be the players here that need to be held to account? So many are within their last year of their contract, at this rate we'd be better off cutting our losses and paying up some of them in January because we won't achieve any type of success with this spineless bunch of w*****s.
To be honest I don't know what the answer is, we are just seeing the same outcomes regurgitated under the last four managers. I don't believe Mark Bonner is the problem but is he the solution either, that's where I am at with all this. The manager does not try to fluff it all up and gives it straight, but does he have the know how, it's clear within the current group the players don't or can't be arsed, they are letting yet another manager down badly. Think I'm at the stage where I will support whatever Brad and Shannon decide to do, because I'm at a complete loss. Getting rid of Harris was probably our mistake but I don't blame the owners for that, they need the support of those around them, problem is do those around them know what they are doing, sadly football at our level is like a financial bucket with a hole in it. Ps. btw very good point on Neil Harris, one that had not gone unnoticed by me, pleased he's doing well, but I think we both knew he always would.
