Good Friday brings Stanley and his mates to Adams Park for their 5th visit in what is a must win game for both teams although for the Chairboys a draw won't be a bad result as we edge slowly to safety. A big crowd is expected with reduced admission prices across the board and they will be hoping for the Chairboys to put on a show, Big Dave is a doubt with illness so there could be changes at the back with Gaz maybe playing himself on the right mid Joel on the left Woody dropping back and Dunne in the middle. I am at work so will be missing this one but will be hoping for us to reach 52pts by 5pm on Friday. http://www.wycombe.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=314040
Big changes for todays team Wycombe: Ingram, McCoy, Harriman, Doherty (c), Johnson, Grant, Scowen, Lewis, Wood, Kuffour, McClure. Subs: Harrison, Dunne, Winfield, Spring, Ainsworth, Andrade, Morias. Matt Ingram come in for the recalled Jordan Archer Dave Winfield, who has been struggling with illness, is on the bench, as is Charles Dunne, while Dean Morgan misses out with a hamstring injury.
Half time 0-0 sounds dull stats 2 shots each 1 on target each winning 3-2 on the corners and possession
Just got back from Adams Park, I have to say that was one of the dullest matches I've seen in over 12 years of watching us play. Was literally head tennis at points where the ball didn't touch the ground for at least 20 seconds, if not more. Ref made some truly shocking decisions as well, Ingram was hit in the face by their #24 inside the first 10 minutes, only a booking. He missed numerous clear fouls with players from both sides being bundled to the ground, yet allowed play to continue. When McClure was put clean through he called it back for offside, even though the linesman didn't signal that he was offside. I could go on and on for ages, but in summary he let the game flow far too much, which boiled over at several points towards the end, it would have at least made it vaguely interesting if someone had been sent off, but no, presumably he thought that would be interfering with play too much! In terms of the actual game, when we did get the ball on the ground and start passing, Scowen and Lewis were excelent with their distribution and Wood & Grant looked a threat down the wings, whilst McClure was also lively. Leon Johnson was particularly culpable for his use of the long ball, when there were clear passing options both left and right. Wood misssed a sitter with 2 minutes of normal time left which would have sealed all 3 points, but dragged it wide of the right hand post. A draw would have been a fair result, we were slightly on top for most of it, but that's not really saying much in such a dull game. Their goal was a real kick in the teeth, defence didn't clear properly from a corner and one of their midfielders/defenders followed up and killed us off. I doubt the reduced ticket prices will have done much to improve our attendances given how boring it was!
I haven't been down for a couple of months but, attracted by the £5 offer, I put my long-johns on and braved the cold. Wish I hadn't bothered. No atmosphere in the Stands. In fact where I was in the Frank Adams stand I wondered if everyone was asleep. The football was so disappointing. Flashes from McClure a couple of times but the rest were very pedestrian and unimaginative. The defence looked tight but we never looked dangerous up front. Even the shot which hit the post was more of a trundle than a red blooded shot. Unfortunately the best player on the pitch was Molyneux and he was very lucky to see the game out. Not sure if it was a malicious kick at the goalkeeper but in this day and age that sort of thing normally gets a red card. Eg Nani.
Just got back from the game. That was awful. The first match I've attended this season, it boded well with a good turn out due to the reduced prices, and playing a team near the bottom who would be fighting hard but surely low on confidence. The first half was dreadful, I can't remember either team troubling the keeper. Both sides hoofing it aimlessly up to know one in particular, we were lucky if we strung more than 4 passes together. We started the second half slightly better, but then reverted to type with aimless balls over the top. These players must be able to pass a football to be able to play at this standard, at what point is this drummed out of them? The only slight pluses were Grant who looked half decent, Docherty was steady and that's it. And to name Kuffour as MOM was just plain weird. I can't see us winning anymore games this season playing like that. One shot on target in 90 mins, woeful.
oh dear oh dear oh dear.... very poor from some of the players today, Jo kuffour was useless, joel grant was anonymous and we struggled to get everthing flowing... in fairness though we did play some good stuff very occasionally and the defence looked relativly soolid (against a non-existant strike force though!) as for accrington they are one of the worst teams i have seen all season, Molyneux should have been sent off for kicking out at ingram and Murphy got lucky to get away with wrestling Wood. i hope they get relegated not only because of today but also to save us a long journey!!!!! but the biggest laugh of the day has to go to decision to name Kuffour man of the match you could actually hear the staduim laughing!!!
I was thinking of going but I delayed my trip to UK until tomorrow am. Thank goodness. for that. It was bad enough listening to it apart from the first 10 mins and the first 5 mins after GA came on.
Same old same old every time we have a reduced price / community day we play ****e and we the extra fans don't come back yesterday was a day to through caution to the wind and put on a display and if we lost 5-4 so be it at least everyone would have gone home entertained opportunity lost I think
hit the nail on the head there! but for a community day there was a real lack of atmosphere yesterday (mind you, there wasent a lot to get excited about!)
