Safe standing announced from next season:

    https://www.wearehullcity.co.uk/new...boe-qZanq9G_wCfWjw_aem_CiVgVxOoyW4yMH8lcQmLfA

Hull City are pleased to announce that safe standing will be installed at the MKM Stadium ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The decision to implement safe standing follows extensive consultation with the Sports Ground Safety Authority and the club’s Safety Advisory Group.

Almost 2,700 seats will be converted to safe standing: 1,574 in the home areas and 1,105 in the away end, as per Sports Ground Safety Authority guidance. The top 12 rows (U to FF) of blocks N1 to N5 in the North Stand and E3 and E4 in the Chris Chilton East Stand, along with the northern half of NW, will become home safe standing sections.

Please note that barriers will not be installed below any raised disabled bays to ensure clear sightlines for supporters on the platforms.

Installation work will begin after our final home game of the season against Derby County on Saturday 26 April and be completed in readiness for the new EFL campaign.

Having previously carried out similar works at Celtic Park and Carrow Road, the respective home stadiums of Celtic and Norwich City, providers, Ferco Seating, will oversee the project and install the galvanised steel independent barriers, with appropriate testing having already taken place.

Safe standing areas permit supporters to stand for the duration of a match. Though standing is not compulsory, these areas are being introduced to help keep supporters safe, preventing progressive crowd collapse, while enhancing the matchday experience and atmosphere.

Supporters should be aware that there is limited availability in safe standing areas. To express an interest in moving into those designated areas, please email [email protected]. The club will then contact supporters to arrange seat relocation, subject to availability from May 2025.

Hull City’s Chief Operating Officer, Joe Clutterbrook, said: “We welcome the introduction of safe standing, which will enable supporters to stand safely and comfortably in an allocated space across the stadium during matches.

“Our proposed plans received positive feedback during our most recent Supporters’ Committee meeting and we look forward to seeing safe standing in place for next season.

“I would to thank our Chairman, Acun Ilıcalı, for his support and understanding on this development. I also extend gratitude to both club and stadium staff for their diligent work in facilitating such a significant project.”

The club will communicate directly with supporters whose seats will be affected by this change.

If you have any queries or concerns regarding the introduction of safe standing, please contact the MKM Stadium Ticket Office by emailing [email protected] or calling 01482 505600.

It's good but nowhere near enough especially with 1105 in the away end

So basically only a very limited few will be in these seats/stands or whatever we call them now

A whole 1571 spaces for home fans. Wow. Over 4,000 for home fans at Norwich, more at Southampton and elsewhere.

I wonder how they came to the decision of 12 rows , don't most people in the North stand ?
Will the others now be told to sit down or get thrown out ?

So how can other clubs have whole ends given over to safe standing? Usual small time stuff.

There will be warnings about how the state of the art cameras can pinpoint anyone standing in a non standing area (but can’t identify bottle throwing rugby fans) and no doubt we will have even more stewards, compare how few are in sight at most other clubs compare to the MKM, strutting self importantly about glaring and pointing at people.

Agree, but it's progress from f*ck all and I hope it leads to more safe standing seats. I remember exiledtiger (CC) bringing a set of demonstration seats to display outside the ground years ago now, I've always favoured it, we are still behind on safe standing but city have finally made some progress, more please.
