I know this was done to death on a global thread that we had a while ago, but with the new season started, quite a lot of people have moved seats.

I have moved to the Gallowgate Strawberry corner with other members from the Leazes Corner, I know a few of you have stayed up there and others have moved to other areas.

I have to say, I will be depressed one of these days at a home game. I sit row E, and have too many people behind me that want to sit down, therefore I can't stand. For me, this kills my enthusiasm to join in singing. I still join in, but when people around me don't put any effort in at all to back the team, I wonder what on earth the point is. I seriously think I am surrounded by dead people.

People at the back are being told to sit, leaflets were put on our seats regarding standing, I could see the stewards going into Level 7 and removing a couple. The whole situation is beyond a joke.

The atmosphere at SJP has been well and truly killed. There are too many people not willing to back the team, meaning those who do want to, are outnumbered, which is why it worked when most singers were all together. Mike Ashley's aim has worked here, to split those up who sang against him.

Its such a disappointed to see SJP like a morgue. Whilst I believe there are a lot of people who would be willing to stand up, it is always killed by one or two who complain. I know we have moved there, and they may have been there for years, but its not our fault that we have been put in that situation to be fair. Not to mention the leg room is **** for someone who is 6ft2.

It really is such a shame to see so many boring bastards at a home game. 2-0 up and the atmosphere was shocking. I can't see any improvement.

What do others think? Same problem, or do you think people should sit?

Standing shouldn't be a problem if you're all together at the back of the stand.

What I was thinking. It should get better in a season or two when they move back.

Not the fans fault either, I think it's unfair to call people boring bastards if they're old or whatever and dont want to stand and sing all game. For the record, I'll stand or sit and join in every song, but not everyone wants to do that and the Gallowgate regulars wouldnt have known where all the Leazes lot were moving to.

If this was their plan, Ashley and Llambias have done it well though, sadly.

I am content with the sitting, as long as we sang. I just can't understand the mentality of people going to a match and just sitting there. Football gets me so worked up I can't hold it in. I wonder how people do it.

I said to nufctomw yesterday that I couldn't believe how boring it was, a lad in front turned around and said 'I agree'. There are like minded people around, but the dead people win.

I don't know if the goal was to 'split those up who sang against him'...more likely financial reasons, but I understand what you're saying, and it's too bad there can't be a more amicable solution to keep everyone happy in the stands.

In some parts of the world there's actually a growth of standing sections in stadiums, its a shame there isn't a single one left at SJP.

In my opinion though, its the mental state of Newcastle crowds right now. I always got the distinct impression all last season, and in the opener this year that the crowd sits on eggshells, waiting for **** to go wrong. There's a real cynicism, and everyone sits through the first half nervous, then in the second half starts letting themselves into the game. Until the team starts consistently winning, and putting in entertaining performances, I think people will continue showing up for matches afraid of getting excited. Just my impressions though.

Admittedly I don't go to games much, but when I do I can't sit down for 2 minutes!

Even watching a stream at home I'm on my feet

Aye, calling them boring bastards is probably harsh as I didn't really describe the people around me. There was no one old, they were all middle aged men who I would have thought they would like to take any anger out on the football. One bloke in front of me just has no emotion at all, its baffling.

Yeah, I can't stand sitting down for long. It's really awkward trying to sing when no-one in the close vicinity is as well. Honestly one of the main reasons that, since I stopped being able to afford a ST, I try (depending on ticket availability) and go to more away games that home.

It does annoy me though, I can sense the divide. I think next season the Leazes enders will gradually move back and the people who dont want to stand/sing will find another area of the ground to sit in. It is sad though, we could be one of the best atmospheres in world football if everyone was up for it.

I disagree. At away games I always sing loud and proud, but at home games I normally just mumble due to a mix of nerves (as I can stand losing away so have no fear but can't rest at home) and the fact that no one else sings near me. Except two new ST holders who I think are from L7.

Gallowgate Middle Tier, Row Q, Seats 132: anyone on here? If so we need more of YOU

I thought that everybody that went to the games got behind the team but one guy that sits beside me just sits there and you don't get a peep out of him. He isn't a football fan, he just goes because it's the thing to do.

I know what you mean but calling the people who don't stand and sing all match 'dead' is unfair. There's a lot of people that are too old or are young children that care just as much about the club but just don't do those things. But that was why the singing section was so great.

I wish we could bring back standing altogether. Not even the whole ground, maybe just 20/25%, then the people who want to stand and sing can do so and the people that want to sit can sit.

On the rare occasion that the corner started singing together it sounded great, the noise bounced off the roof and travelled around the ground. The ones at the back are standing up, but there are those, like me, who are stuck at the front and can't stand up because 1 person wants to sit down.

No way am I spending the next 10 years there.

I have to say I don't get to many home games, maybe 5-6 per season, but I only ever sat in L7 with my mates when I could. I've sat in the NE corner and Milburn stand a couple of times and it's nowhere near as good having to sit so much. I'm 6'2" as well and my shins scrape against the seat in front of me, frankly it's a pain in the ****ing arse.

Naturally I can't complain about away games because I stand the whole time. Like you said though, Ashley's aim seems to have been to split up the boo boys and it's such a shame because the atmosphere seems to have been well and truly killed.

As just said by AAP, it really is a pain in the arse sitting down. Like I said, I am 6ft2 and my knees are going into the back of the person in front. It helps when I lift my legs up on my toes but try doing that for 90 minutes, my legs were shaking after 30 seconds.

Sitting down is not comfortable for me. The leg room is shocking.

I think it's too easy to blame it on age etc, unfortunately people have different ways of enjoying the game. My dad (god rest his soul) was in his 60s and wouldn't sit down or shut up for the entire game, he loved the singing. I'm the same. There are others however who seem to prefer discussing the game rather than being more vocal which is fine, but it's why a singing section is needed.

Ashley and co are the ones to blame not fellow fans. Football is a changed game with regards to fans, far more families and middle/upper class people go now. The singing section was effectively the away contingent. It's the split that has ruined the atmosphere, but unfortunately you can't expect people who have been in the same seats and who don't like the singing to all of a sudden change their ways because people have moved.

Shame because I can't sit still for a minute!

He's not even a football fan?! Why waste an extotionate amount of money on a season ticket because 'its the thing to do'?!

Anyway, I'd rather have quiet people than the miserable fecker behind me. All he does is shout abuse, mainly at the same players every game (Lover and Tiote mostly (yes I know, Tiote!)). Thing is whenever he does have anything positive to say he seems to mumble it. I just dont understand why you would go to matches if you're gonna be so miserable all the time.

If scraping your shins is a pain in the arse you must have a massive arse.

Don't think Ashley can shut the boo boys up because they come from every corner of the ground.
