Has anyone got a copy of the famous semi-final win against Hamburg? I'm working on a football related writing project, and I want to check (approximately) when the chant of 'Stand up if you still believe' started in that game. I'm writing about the symbiotic relationship between fans and players, and wanted to say how long it was after the chant that Davies scored. My memory says that the chant started in the second half, and I've got the goal timed at 69 minutes. If the project comes to fruition, I'll tell you all about it in due course! Thanks for any help anyone can give on this.
I think it was against Juventus and as luck would have it, the club released a DVD of the game, I bought it for my Dad for his last birthday.

I remember against Hamburg that the players seemed to be drooping morale-wise and visibly perked up after the chorus of 'Stand up...' I also recall (though haven't been able to find) Simon Davies saying something about the difference he felt that it made at the time. That's why I'm focusing on the Hamburg game, because there seemed to be a direct link between the supporters and the performance from the players. While we may have sung it against Juventus, I'm not sure there is the same sense of cause and effect (though I'm happy to be told otherwise, and even happier to be reminded of beating Juventus 4-1).
I'm sure the videos will help. But my memory is that we scored immediately after the second round of "SUIYSB" in the second half. By the way, the hairs on the back of my neck remind me!!!!!!!
Craving, that link led me to a Davies quote made after the Juventus game and before Hamburg, which makes the point I'm after nicely. I'm sure I saw one after the semi but maybe I'm misremembering this. Cheers. Thank you Captain, you 'forced' my son and me to watch the game again. I admit I'd forgotten that we were struggling a tad. However to answer your question, the crowd really started getting behind the team on the hour and the first rendition of Stand Up If You Still Believe was at 67mins 05seconds. After Simon scored (69.58) the ground was electric. As GeraScores said the 'hairs were standing' even 2 years on and sitting on the sofa. And when his boy scored (75.15), WOW ! Great to see some old faces (and a young Danny Murphy). COYW

Cottager, you're a gent, sir. That's the smoking gun I was looking for. I checked out my son's DVD of the season last night, but it didn't have any time count on it, so I was on the verge of giving up on a timing. Sadly, I wasn't at the Hamburg game, but I watched it on telly. I remember, as GeraScores said earlier, the hairs on the back of my neck standing up (they obviously still believed) when I heard the crowd. Maybe that's why my memory of Davies' goal is so closely linked to it, particularly if it was only a couple of minutes later. I didn't get to see the Juventus game at all, so I knew my memory wasn't from that one. I had planned to go, but Mrs Captain - a teacher - had a parents evening so I was on duty with the boys. I had planned to watch on telly but didn't realise until ten minutes before kick-off that it was on ESPN (which we don't have) rather than Channel 5 or ITV4. My eldest and I watched the Valencia vs Werder Bremen (or someone) 4-4 game while checking the Fulham score periodically on teletext. By the end I had deserted him for the radio. When Dempsey scored I ran through into the front room, leapt on him and we danced around in glee. Mrs Captain stopped on her way home to buy herself something to eat, and had to wait in the car for several minutes, unable to leave the radio commentary to buy her food, because she needed to know how it ended. I think her concern wasn't for Fulham per se, but for what a last-minute Juventus goal would do to our then 6-year old's emotions. Mothers, eh. As others have said, very very warm memories.
