There are now five threads on here relating to our anger at the council's negativity towards Mr Allam's proposed Sports Village / ground expansion plans. However at the last count only six people have confirmed that they have written to the council to complain. Those people are: me OLM i saw the premier league tigers Mavroz Don't sack brownie merchantman5 Councillors are politicians - Politicians are scared of losing votes - They can be easily swayed by public outrage. If enough of us make our feelings known by e-mailing Geraghty and others in the council we can affect the final decision. What's stopping you?
I'm all in favour of Mr. Allams plans but more questions need to be answered just one would be, If the council agree to give the Stadium and the work proceeds and is successful and making a nice little profit and another company offers say £500,000,000 for the whole Sports Village and he sells then we've lost it for good and its value unless, £40m is placed in a savings account upon completion of the Sports Village and if at some time in the future the Allams sell then the money goes to Hull City Council (£40m + interest) just a thought
assem allaam has already now stated publicily that he will not deal anymore with this council so the case is closed. no point. imo, one of 3 things will happen. 1)melton will spring up. 2)allaam will wait for a new council. 3)nothing will change or happen.
He would say that though wouldn't he. It's all about posturing. If the Council come back he will listen.
my hope is that if that were to happen then adam pearson as hull fc owner can be in the talks to shut up geraghty's scare mongering.
Assem Allam (in the Fail): The councillor cited a lack of security for Hull FC as a key reason to opt against a sale but the Allam family have refuted that suggestion. "I laughed at the councillor's comments because it's a joke," he said. "Both Hull City and Hull FC have 42 years remaining on a lease, they're guaranteed that. "For him to say we could kick Hull FC out in 15 months, how can he substantiate that claim? "They are misrepresenting the case and for me that's not on, it's a disgrace."
Why does Mr Allam need to own the stadium in order to build the sport village? I believe the council has said he can build his sport village on the West Park site so why cant he just go ahead and build it anyway? Please don't think I've taken the councils side because at the end of the day I believe it will be run better in Mr Allam's hands but why can't he just build the sport village. In a way it might force the councils hand.
Allam sounded like a petulant little child on the radio two days ago, I thought an astute businessman would have a bit more about him. Anyway at the end of the day I'm just a welder what do I know about the world of business, I don't think it would be right for Allam to get the stadium on the cheap though, Why should he be given the chance to make a fast buck?
it would be a lot better if someone sorted out Petition !!! would get a lot more names on it, and would make more waves !! http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/
Or you can petition Hull City Council directly. http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/portal/page?_pageid=221,649584&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL 'If you feel strongly about a local government issue that needs a call to action, you can submit a petition to us...Petitions with a high level of support (over 1,500 signatures collected) will be debated at a meeting of the authority.'
Personally i emailed him a fairly detailed email about his reasoning behind it, and also provided some statistical evidence as to why he was wrong and that hopefully now evidence has proved him that he would change his mind. If he reads it he will realise the theory behind is arguement is completely and utterly flawed...
Good luck with that mate, but with only 8 people writing to the council so far I think you will do well to get 1500 signatures. I'm starting to think a lot of people like to moan, but at the end of the day they can't be ar5ed to do anything positive.
petition is better with a covering letter. have them up and running for the watford home game on 22nd october. or set up an online petition which can then be sent on directly. letters are old hat for many nowadays.
It wouldn't be difficult to write into any deal that a percentage of any profit that was made on the stadium in the future was handed back to the council. It's rather more difficult to apply that to an entire development that the council didn't fund, though I suppose it's not out of the question.
You can put good arguements for the sale of KC Stadium but you will not convince him, you cannot win the arguement he's so behind the times he still believes they had ponies down pits and that you mam fried eggs in bacon fat.
. Because he needs to own the stadium in order to raise the money to build the stadium.......I think, but now that's makes me wonder, how does AA intend to fund meltno?
East Riding Council will jump through hoops to get the stadium moved to Melton, I suspect there's a few bob on offer.
Petitions are much easier, get the petition on facebook and twitter and you will see the numbers fly in...... Yet people writing a letter are few and far between unfortunately.

The important thing is the land more so than the actually building on it (ie KC Stadium). In the case of Melton, the ERYC appear to be supportive in providing the land. Any developer, no matter how large needs to acquire finance in order to bankroll a development. This is done by securing the lending against the value of land and of course the value of the buildings as the construction work proceeds. BTW, I think the KC Stadium is considerably overvalued by the council at a figure of £40M. They base this on the build cost when constructed. However, its current value should be related to its commercial revenues (ie rent received from HCAFC, HFC and HCC). From memory I am sure that the total rental income is only in the region of about £100k per annum. If anyone knows the actual figure I would be interested to know. Most of the value of the site is actually Walton Street Car park and the undeveloped areas of land. This is because it is ripe for development, however, again its current value is minimal whilst only used as a market and annual fairground. With Planning Permission of course its value shoots up. The total current value of all the site based on its revenues generated will probably be in the region of £2-3M. However, with planning permission the site will be worth about £30-40M. That in a nutshell is the difference between a backward thinking Old Labour Council who own the site and an entrepreneur/businessman who wishes to realise its potential.
