hiya lads, after the arival of mon to sunderland afc.It has been decided than to raise funds for players and wages we are going to change our staduims name. obviously this is a load of bollox because what such club would be so desperate for money that they would do such a thing?. One of the perks of having a billionair owner is that our new manager can spend his little heart out. people say bruce wasted money but id say we must have brought in more than he has spent over his 3 years.(dont know exact figures) so imo he aint wasted a penny. come on MARTIN O'NEILL!! Don't necessarily think this will be the case Brucie spoke about in the summer after the huge influx of players about needing to get players off the wage bill so we could bring in (at the time) a left winger and a striker, we managed to move on Malbranque, Ferdinand and Gyan and brought in Bendtner onloan. I think MON or whoever will be backed by Short and transfer fee's wont be a problem it will be the wage bill that will be the problem. The club needs investment thats why we went to Korea a couple of months back and why other trips around the world are planned for the upcoming months, if we could make an extra 10m a year from selling our stadium name then that would be a good move for the club as long as the majority of that money went towards player wages.
I believe Bruce was about 13 million in credit on his transfers. I really dont understand this no money crap though, we are abroad trying to get the Korean market to take interest in us (whether it works or not is a different matter though) with getting rid of some of the high earners, our wage bill must have come down drastically. 2 years ago it was 85%, it has to be less than that now. Shorts interest Loan is probably paid off that was 28 million, we are allowed 35 million debt a season for the next 3 seasons, then it has to come down, but we could borrow 100 million from the bank/Short, and as long as we can pay the interest, its fine and dandy, hence how Man U can get away with it. Scenario for me would be. Sell 5-6 players in January. Get 15-25 million in Short puts in 20 million-30 million Manager has 50 million in January to strengthen us We than have 3 years to get back on track, which after Jan/the summer should be pretty easy, we do have a good squad imho, and it doesnt need tinkering with that much, that was Bruces problem i feel, he had to get rid of 95% of Keanes buys and make his own squad, I really dont think a new manager will have to do this, just a few tweaks here and there should do it. So basically 5-6 players out, 4-5 players in, then 2-3 out 2-3 in every transfer window, not 10 in and 12 out every transfer window.
Pretty much agree with you here pal 3years should be plenty of time to get us back on track. I personally think we need to bring in 3 or 4 in January then a huge turnaround in the summer, Brucie IMO brought in a load of average players in the summer and I think will be atleast 10players in our first team squad that will not figure in the new managers plans. I think if the manager is backed to firstly go and get 3 or 4players in January and make the squad his own in the summer with heavy investment made then we can look at the 2 or 3players max each transfer window to kick us on starting from the January next season. We need to get players out of the club starting with January we are a squad full of squad players, our first XI aint good enough
