    Just taken from bbc website:

Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson says discussions between Liverpool Football Club and Liverpool City Council over the club's stadium plans are encouraging, but maintains the local residents are the priority.

"It's frustrating for the local residents and they are my main concern," he told the Liverpool Echo. "We are pushing for a speedy resolution to the issue of whether the club stays at Anfield or goes to Stanley Park, but we are encouraged by the discussions."

A lot of people do not realise how long these things take.....looks like progress is still being made, albeit at an unwanted slow pace!

its clear that at minimum the council are not willing to be negative about it. they have extended their deadline, stated they are concerned about residents (politically required) but that they are encouraged as well..... I think the story being told can't be flim flam at this point at least so they are willing to keep on backing it.

Wonder what the carnivores ate during the long journey? The herbivores too, for that matter - did Noah take on plants two-by-two?

You do realise that there are many Americans who take this stuff as historical fact. Probably the same ones who come out with a 'spade in the ground in weeks' and "black baseball players in the 30's were discriminated against" when caught backing down on their previous insistence on backing their manager...<whistle> ...

Nice analogy but if anyone actually believes that story I will reach through the screen and shake some sense into you.

Yeh... if the ark was true, the world's animals would be organised into 'spheres' based on how far they were able to travel once they left the ark. But, as you know, the world is not like that, and indeed shut-off areas like Australia developed completely separately - with the Duck Billed Platypus and the Kangaroo as examples.

Probably too stuffed with mana and seeds to eat any more.

Question: this would have left Noah's family as the only humans alive. Is everyone evolved from an inbred hick family, or is that just those in Salford?

Any chance you could do that to Baz anyway??

On topic I am glad the stadium options are being looked at (despite my frequent cynicism). I've always said that we will never get anywhere without all groups working together on this one. I personally would prefer to shy away from a shared stadium option simply because the Blue noses would foot less of the bill than us. What we definitely could do however is get together as clubs and along with the council work on a plan that could benefit us all AND the local community. For years both clubs (Everton less so) have had poor ties with the local areas around the grounds and its this that has hindered progress on so many occassions. If at last we have people who will explore different options that can benefit ALL parties involved then we will be able to move forward. Do I have much faith in the council to be innovative, hard working and forward thinking? No but hopefully the club(s) will be able to encourage them to start working together <ok>

My sister has worked for the council for 38 years and, apart from not having a pay rise for three years, they've all just had their jobs 'independently' re-evaluated and downgraded by another 10% (except HR and Finance, naturally, who know how to twist the system). And the Tory press are quick to point out that there's a £100m of Council Tax unclaimed. Point is, the council is totally borrassic.

Europe and the development agencies too, where money overflowed for decades, is goosed. I'm in favour of a shared stadium, but I think the funding train left the stadium in the days of H&G.

I'm not in favour of a shared stadium. I support LFC and whilst I accept that LFC have some duty towards the local community, I see no reason to provide the city with a facility that will benefit Everton.

What we are seeing in both these statements and Henry's tweets is only a fraction of the true dialogue. From these little pinpricks of information we are supposed to glean what is actually going on - and failing!

This shouldn't necessarily be just about a shared stadium option though Dave. The idea of a "football quarter" between the two grounds is an excellent one IMO. It would give communities on both sides of the park much needed regeneration, provide jobs and facilities that just aren't there at the moment. It would also (if done correctly and with local support) free up much needed land around both grounds thus enabling the clubs to do what they deemed fit with the grounds. Its a simple idea that would be relatively (and I stress relatively) easy to organise IF done with the willing co-operation of all parties involved <ok>

agreed. there is no benefit to the community at all from closing woodison and combining with LFC in one stadium...

precisely what benefit is there for the people of the city... not having two team having home games in the one area? thats about it.

LFC need their own dedicated area where its thier food, ther museum and such.

Wonder if those two pandas in the picture actually got around to fooking each other, unlike the lazy, ungrateful bastards who inhabit the world's zoos.

They should isolate and transfer their sex-avoidance gene and put it in the cans of Eight Ace that the Jeremy Kyle-watching, sink-estate dwelling bums consume.

Seriousy though, one of the Apollo astronauts, an engineer, test-pilot and intelligent man called Jim Irwin spent years looking around Mt Arafat for the ark. Some say it hastened his death through his heart condition that he first suffered on the moon on Apollo 15 in 1971.

I bring that up to say that it's not just nutty, swivell-eyed American evangelists who take this stuff literally.
