I see Phil Macwhateverhisname has suggested that Dermot Desmond has met with Diageo Ireland in regards a 10 year deal stadium naming deal. Big money apparently. Yes? No?
Take the cash. I'll still call it Celtic Park. And others will stick with Parkhead. And yet others, Paradise ... (cue predictable Rangers fans "comedy" names ...)
I'm too modest to suggest that the stadium should be named after me, but the Big Bad John Stand has a nice ring to it.
If it improves the product on the park then do it, not to would be just silly. Make sure we get a good price.
Show me the money ; what does it matter if its got a different name for advertising purposes....so long as its not something like Dr Whites Tampax Stadium.
I'm up for it as long as we don't end up with Guinness Park or something ****e like that. I've done jobs on a lot of Diageo distilleries. Tight-fisted ****s.
Trevor. Celtic can command a large fee for naming rights for the largest and safest football stadium in the West of Scotland. Rangers could command one hundredth of their recent selling price, that would work out at 1p for Ibrox ****-hole. Nobody would risk a long term investment on your club in administration, heading directly into liquidation. For some it could be sad.
Surely they wouldn't use the Guinness brand as that would put off all Glasgow's hunnish Guinness drinkers? McEwan's is still a hun beer.
I think it would be rude not to reinforce this joke by saying that not a bad ring would be the whole point of it. Perhaps the Irish Republican movement could piggy back on that and we could have "the Preparation H (block) Stadium."
I dont like the idea myself. We are going to be lording it over the huns for years as it is. We dont need to sacrifice anything to keep them in second place.
maybe not but if we want to get champs league football we need to invest. to me it is easy take the money. no one will ever call it by the commercial name except the commentators.
True. Even if it just pays for getting big Forster in on a perm and a new striker. Not much rebuilding needing done this year for a change! Things starting to look rosy!
