Stadium Atmosphere - Can it be improved?

I've been reading threads about the singing and support shown by the Palace fans yesterday and how good it was etc., and I agree it was brilliant, but it only comfirmed what we all know and that is how bad/quiet our home atmosphere has been over this season.

So do we all think that maybe moving fans around in the KC will change the atmosphere? Personally, I think making the West stand two tier was a massive mistake, the South or the East should have been two tiers, with a smaller West stand for all the corporate and "quieter" fans.

Bring back Unreserved seating/standing will help getting like minded fans all together.There is a few of us who meet up on prinny ave before every home game we spend a couple of hours talking and laughing then when we get to the kc we are all split up

29 points from 23 games at home isn't exactly something to shout about. Agree the atmosphere at the KC at times this season has been dire, but surely the fact that the we have seen the least number of goals this season out of any Championship ground has something to do with that.

Our average crowd is over 20K so it's clear there isn't a lack of support - just the unwillingness of fans who aren't in the East Stand to create an atmosphere. I'm not sure how that can be solved, but it will certainly become a major concern next season should our home form drastically improve, and the KC stays as quiet and unatmospheric as it has been for the best part of this campaign.

I seem to remember in the promo season we were getting average gates of 17,000 but the atmosphere was still decent. Premiership glory hunters comes to mind

Completely agree, Surely if Adam wants to create a better home atmosphere then he better start listening to the fans? I've got sons in the forces - die hard City fans, yet they cannot attend a game and sit with their family. Surely this has a knock on effect and is a contributing reason to the teams poor home performances? Split up friends and family who can't stand together like they once did, singing their hearts out???

hu7 You my son have the answer, we should petition the club to set up sections of unreserved seating in the north stand! OLM can you set some type of electronic petition up?

If we could distribute to City Independent, Amber Nectar etc.. maybe we can get something moving? The Ulltras section, there are plenty of lads who'd love a bit of a ruk up and gangs of mates would head to these sections straight from the pub. I bet it would spread to the east stand and possibly the south who knows????

un reserved sections are definately a good idea...
could have half of each stand- seats for people who want a fixed seat..and the other half, unreserved..then people could gather together..
im sure it was like that when it 1st opened wasnt it?

How about move the away fans to the corner of the ground between the North Stand and the East Stand. We can then put fans behind both goals. Attendances will improve when we improve on the pitch, and to be honest we're getting 20k a week which isn't bad at all.

The actual pre-match build up and everything needs to be changed too. I say move the "good afternoon ... stand" just before the song which builds up to the players coming out. Then as soon as the players come out do there names and play "I can't help falling in love" which seems to be getting louder every week. Soon enough it should bed and sound great!

Is it a problem with ALL home fans these days? With the away support, you get the dedicated fans, no matter which club you follow. I don't know if its just the KC or whether its a common thing...

I agree with K-B in that there hasn't really been a lot to shout out about this season. It's a snowball effect - the team play well and the crowd get behind them, which in turn motivates the team; but the opposite is also true - the team play crap, the crowd get on their backs, and they then lose confidence. Just look back to the first 10 minutes of the 'Boro game - the team were playing well and the atmosphere was great, 10 minutes later were were 2-1 down and the atmosphere had gone. We ended up losing and drawing more at home than we actually won, and from what I remember even the games we won we played crap which makes it hard to get motivated. Looking at the stats only Scunthorpe and Preston won fewer home games than us, while away only QPR and Swansea won more. No surprise the away support was better.
