The concept of St Totteringham's day came from long-time friend of Arseweb Julian Shulman, and was introduced to the world by us back in 2002. It is the day in the season when Tottenham can no longer finish above Arsenal in the league. It is of course a moveable feast, and usually marked by the exchange of banknotes around the country, as Spurs-supporting mates face up to the fact that once again their start-of-season optimism has cost them dear. Source: http://www.arseweb.com/other/totteringham.html Since it probably won't happen this season, I thought it prudent that we get our thinking caps on and come up with a reverse of the infamous Celebratory day marked in traditional silence at the Library by Le Scum. I hate to admit it, but 'St. Totteringham' does have quite a funny ring to it. As im sure HIAG will agree, it is more than likely that we will finish above Arsenal for the first time since the mighty GG was their manager 1995. Since the Whinger era began, not a season has passed without Arsenal thriving on the last thread of pride from yet another collapsed campaign. As such, when the day comes this season that THEY are unable to catch US in the league..... what will we call it?
Nah PNP, we need something with a bit more finesse, a bit of a ring to it, bit of subtle humour which yet manages to achieve a play on words with the name of the club. As much as this Shulman is probably a plonker, he hit the nail on the head with his creation, and we need to match this.
St. Poosquat's Day was coined on the old 606 when we beat Arsenal causing Arsene to curl one out on the touchline. I'd rather celebrate finishing in the top 4 though.
Hmmm, some good suggestions lads. Like I said, it's a tough one. Whilst their club name obviously lends itself quite conveniently to rectum-related humour, it is rare indeed to strike upon something as tongue-roll-offable as St Totteringham's Day. I liked notso's suggestion of 'St Goners Day', and Ensil has- as always- been very creative. Keep em coming!
Ha imagine being knocked out by Basel! Ha! Might as well lose to crystal palace in the cup. Oh, wait...
