Oh how the mighty have fallen......did he not turn us down....or lead us on at the very least when PJ was making eyes in his direction??
Worth a go on a deal similar to Ambrose/ Collison. Smith being available for New Zealand, and suspensions means we could be one short I feel.
SSL was another one of those linked every window signings like Chopra. Also like Chopra appears to have 'teamed' up with us 3 years past his best. Unlike Chopra I trust our current overseers to make a better judgement and we will only sign him IF it is right for the club.
Definitely worth a punt and he's only 29 so still got a couple of years left in him. Decent cover for injuries and suspensions so I reckon go for it.
Only 4 years in the making this move... I always thought he was a decent player, good on the ball as he's not a big guy for a centre half. He hasn't been pulling up any trees in the past couple of years and I would argue that young Matt Clarke would be a better option as 4th choice centre back. I'd save the money we'd have to lay out for his wages and put it towards another striking option as an injury/loss of form for Murph or McGoldrick and we would struggle
I wonder what sort of wage St Ledger would command now. Very strange nowadays the quality of player unattached. That said, he's made ( judging by wiki ) 19 first team appearances in 3.5 seasons........... must be very very injury prone? With that in mind, surely it's going to be a pay as you play, or very low weekly wage.
We've had a few players come to us with similar appearance records. Then they get properly coached by Mick and TC and turn into valuable members of the squad. I'd trust Mick's judgement on this one.
Could be cb cover if mings goes in january, chambo moving to rb and parr over to the left. Wouldn't be the worst signing in history.
I went last night, this was the Town team; U21s: Crowe, Emmanuel, Wyatt, Guldbrandsen, St Ledger, Clarke, Stewart (Galvin 68), Benyu, McQueen, Bajner, Henshall. Unused: Marsden, Robinson, McLoughlin, Galvin, Ford. Ok so our trialist, SSL was as rusty as an old nail, he did communicate well with the youngsters and did his best to drive things forward. Wyatt at LB looks a good prospect, 2nd time I have seen him and both times he has impressed. Stewart did pretty well until he picked up his injury, Town did fall apart IMO when he went off, we never looked like scoring after that. The two youngsters at CM for us looked good for about an hour Benyu and Guldbrandsen, not seen GB before but Benyu has also looked good the handful of times I have seen him. Clarke was at CB tonight and did ok, think he will probably make the bench again this weekend? That is about it for the positives, as for the negatives, Henshall was pants all night, if he gave the ball away once it must have been a dozen times. MCQueen had an off night, as for Bajner, he don't bring much to the party!
No surprise we are being linked with a number of loan signings before the deadline, after watching the U21s the other night I am sure MM was straight on the blower. There isn't anyone who looks like they are ready to step up to the first team if needed at short notice, plenty of promise but no one ready now! I include Banjer, Henshall, Clarke and Stewart in the not ready category.......
Think St Ledger is a decent player but I'd say we need to strengthen other areas more like RB (unless Hewitt is given a chance) and upfront. We've got 3 very good CBs for this division, if someone gets injured pull Mings in at CB or one of our youngsters I'd say, not gonna grumble though if he signs
