Good signing if we can get him surely if location aint a factor in the move we should be able to attact him.

Were does that leave Larsson as neither player are left wingers.

How do we set out though

    I would go with....

    ----------- Gardner -------- Cattermole -----------

    Wright-Phillips ---- Sessegnon -------- New Signing

    --------------------- Gyan -----------------------

He is certainly a player who can do things out of the ordinary, and I think his never-say-die attitude would make him popular with Sunderland fans. The downside is that he is a right sided player and our priority should be on the left.

He'll be used on the left and cutting in, IMO.

I dunno about this one, but i'll certainly back him if he's in the shirt, could be a wonder signing if he hit's his 2008 ish form.

Larsson will be the first choice right sided midfield and indeed SB has singled him out as having a pivotal role for set peices as well. I'm sure SWP if its true of course, will be utilised on the left of midfield, or both could be swapped during games.

I am not against SWP coming, indeed I mentioned his name back in January to much dismay and his aquisition will mean a healthy competitive right side as well.

I think Bruce has realised that a left winger is hard to come buy, and that SWP on the left will provide us with pace AND he can score.

You look at other teams, you have Nasri, Walcott and Arshavin for Aresnal who play on the left but right footed. It works, so I will back SWP. He will be something we havn't had in ages. PACE

I know SWP did not do it at Chelsea and has gone down the pecking order at City but he is still a top player IMHO. Yes he is best on the right but he can and has played on the left.

One thing for sure, with SWP and Sess in the team I cant see a lot of high balls but I can see lots of free kicks and we do have Larssen and Gardner so goals, goals, goals.

Am I the only one who is totally underwhelmed by this? SWP is the most average footballer I have ever seen, rubbish delivery, barely scores ever, all he has is pace, he has no skill, craft or vision, he only beats a man if he can out pace them thats it. I'm delighted with what Brucey has done this summer and really optimistic for the coming season but this is just a joke in my opinion, certainly no improvement on what we have and he will want massive wages too!!!

    Steer well clear brucey

My wife will love that. She wants to keep him in a box as a pet and screams at the telly if anyone tries to tackle him..... very weird!!!!!!

One a footballing note I've always rated him. Seems to be one of those player who's legs are to fast for his brain to keep up with sometimes but do like his direct running style.

I think he would do well for us. Anyone remember his first game back for Man City against us at the SOL a couple years ago? Im sure Keane was still in charge. He tore us apart that day. If he can reproduce that form he could be a very dangerous player

I remember that vividly, my mare was up from Manchester, and we'd been exchanging a bit of banter pre game, wasn't pleasant hi=ooking upafter the game when we'd been royally arse ****ed.

We were the better team that day by a mile till the first goal, then we disappeared up our own arses and got battered.

Say we did sign/Loan SWP I think he would just go on the left. This would give us zero balance and it would become predictable for defences as to him cutting inside but im still open to giving it a go so maybe,

    ----------- Gardner -------- Cattermole -----------

    Larsson----------- Sessegnon -------- Wright-Phillips

    --------------------- Gyan -----------------------

I still think we are lacking fire power upfront and prefer the 4-4-2 but lets see how the 4-5-1 with Sess supporting goes first and I hope Bruce has a plan B if we aint scoring

Exactly. Even Fergie has said Ashley Young was bought for the left wing and I am sure he is right footed. IMO if you go out with 2 out and out wingers you get battered in the centre of the park. I have no issues with Vaughan/colback on the left coming into the middle when required although on the same hand if we signed wright-phillips or Johnson I would be pretty happy. Nowt like sitting on the fence!!

I'd be happy with SWP. He's still got his pace which is a very dangerous asset.

He has occasionally failed to live up to the expectations and consistently producing the form that people know he is capable of has been an issue. However, I firmly believe that this is down to the fact that he's not been given the game time week in, week out, first at Chelsea and now City. He's been in and out of both teams.

I think its a bit of a case of smaller fish in big pond at City and Chelsea- he's good, but he's no David Silva. So hopefully if he comes here and plays every week it will be more big fish in slightly-less-big pond..

I'm sure whoever signs him will have a very good player who is ready and itching to play every week, and will have a good buy on their hands. I hope it's us.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle is looking to sign Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips - but has distanced himself with a move for Joey Barton.
Coyle admits he is hoping to add a few more players before the end of the transfer window, following the arrivals of Tyrone Mears and Chris Eagles, and Wright-Phillips is one of his top targets.
"He is a terrific player, a player that we know well and an outstanding talent," said the Reebok chief. "Whether anything happens in that remains to be seen. There's no doubt he is a terrific player."

    Act quicly Bruce.

I know it's all about opinions but this is a no brainer for me. We are a middle of the table team looking to improve our squad/team and SWP is an improvement who will make us stronger and give the opposition something else to worry about/deal with. To me he is abit like David Bellion only better and with the right coaching and a bit of confindence could become a crowd pleaser.
