Sign him and my faith will be restored. Just didn't think we had any sort of hope. Pisses on Jarvis, Lennon, Milner in my unbiased opinion. (as well as Elmo and Larsson)
from @SkySportsNews Sky Sports News twitter Sky Sources: Sunderland in talks with Manchester City winger Adam Johnson. #SSN I really hope this one comes off. if we only signed Fletcher & AJ in this transfer window i would be over the moon. I know we need a few more but i still would be happy
Well hope he signs within the next 20 minutes ...leaves 10 minutes for a fax to be sent that he's playing tomorrow
Very hard to find, but a creative midfielder needed for me. Does look like Larsson will be pushed inside so maybe thats the way. Depending on 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 Johnson--Catts-(or)-Larsson--Sess--Mclean Fletcher--(1 up and/or) Saha Looks good to me.
This sums the magnitude of this up for me. How many of the people who haven't been back for years will think, 'hang on , this is different' The crowd for tomorrow will be huge if he signs, even though he'll probs be ineligible.
It was mentioned yesterday about the signing dead line its in the echo about Fletcher today. If AJ signs as well he will have to wait until next week but he will still be ours everything is crossed today. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/safc-news/fletcher-deal-expected-soon-1-4861815 SUNDERLAND are expected to complete the £12m signing of Steven Fletcher this morning, with the striker set to be in the squad to face Reading tomorrow. And having all but tied up the deal for the Wolves hitman, the Black Cats now hope to close in on £10m Manchester City winger Adam Johnson in what has become a two-way battle between Sunderland and Spurs. The Fletcher deal still has to be ratified ahead of the midday deadline. But the Sunderland manager is confident that the red tape will be completed in time for the forward to be unveiled at the Stadium of Light tomorrow. He said: “We’ve agreed a fee and shaken hands on the deal. He’s completed a medical and he’s enthused about coming. “So there really is nothing stopping it going through but you never say never until it’s over the dotted line. “Assuming he does come though, it’s a great signing for Sunderland because I think he’s an under-rated striker who, at the age of 25, is only going to get better.” Sunderland will now turn their full attention on getting Johnson to Sunderland but the club is facing a battle royal with Spurs who are also fighting hard to sign the England international. O’Neill said: “We can’t say too much about that as things stand. “All I can say is that he’s a very good player we’re interested in and we are doing all we can to get him to the club.” Sunderland face Reading tomorrow with no fresh injuries from the Arsenal game last weekend and O’Neill accepting it will be a difficult first home game for the Wearsiders. “I was at Chelsea midweek to watch Reading and they are a very motivated side who will be giving their all against us tomorrow. It certainly won’t be an easy game for us and I think the crowd will have their part to play in getting behind us. “We’re very much up for it though as a squad and we’ll be going all out to get our home campaign under way with a win.”
Good piece that mate. I've been told Fletch signed yesterday, so it really does look like they are trying to put a double signing out. No press conferences planned for today though, which is a ****ter..
Its still exciting though. Just think of our line up -----------------------------------Mig------------------------------------ Gardner-------------Jos----------------Cuellar----Ricco/New signing Johnson------------------Catts-------Colback-----------------McClean ----------------------------------Sess------------------------------------ ---------------------------------Fletcher---------------------------------
What time would AJ have to sign by to be able to have a part against Reading???. Some saying noon and others 5pm??
****ing hell that looks good, I fancy Seb could play RB, he's played RB for Sweden couple times, and then we'd still have his dead ball weapons! Olsson has to be the LB, has to.
Olsson would be my choice. But i think we will end up with Warnock on loan or on a free which is not bad. Larsson could play RB or slot in CM if needed
