    QUOTE
QPR on brink of stunning £10m deal to bring Spurs defender Dawson to Loftus Road

    By Sami Mokbel

    PUBLISHED: 16:12, 21 August 2012 | UPDATED: 16:20, 21 August 2012

Queens Park Rangers are close to completing a £10million swoop for Michael Dawson.

Manager Mark Hughes is keen to bring in a centre back after watching Barcelona's Andreu Fontas, 22, and Kurt Zouma of St Etienne.

But he has instead decided to splash the cash on Tottenham defender Dawson, whose future was in doubt at White Hart Lane.

The deal is close to going through, with Dawson set for a medical and ready to discuss personal terms. Neither are believed to be problematic.UNQUOTE

    £10m or £5.5m? Someone's got it wrong

More likely to be the lower end, but with add-ons. I think Forest (?) get a chunk of this fee too. This would be a quality, sensible signing by QPR. Please let him be joined my Mbia too, then we are in business...!

It's all about chain reactions - one player has to move before the rest of the chain starts moving. If there are hold-ups, agent tantrums and just a change of heart from the Club or player, it's back to square one for a lot of Clubs. This is the week when the hard work of negotiations pays off - or not.

I think that Spurs are in need of some cash with the Modric deal dragging out for so long; and they'll want to get on with some of their own business, rather than leaving it until the last minute - we know that feeling.
Will hopefully be a very sound investment. A leader at the back - that will be very comforting!!

Only played 7 games last season year due to ankle ligament injury. But a good player. AVB is on a clear out he will live to regret. Anyone fancy Huddlestone as holding midfielder? Not sure I do, but could be persuaded.

A lot of spurs fans are not happy with this rumour all saying Dawson is their best centre back

DT i think there could be some truth in that. I reckon MH had targets but lost out on them and now he needs a quick fix.

Solid and can dish it out to teamates. He has had some bad injuries of late,so if he is fit??..Im sure his recent injury would have a bearing on payments, etc. Ankle ligaments can be a real problem.Lets see,but just what we need. Why we didnt look at him weeks ago?

Dawson and Mbia. That would make up for Saturday's horror show.

I have been reading about the possible Dawson transfer and the is some SMALL evidence that we have been looking at him for a short while. It MAY not be a knee jerk reaction then.

If he does sign which looks like he is most likely going too. who is going to be dropped from cb ferdinand or onuoha....... i would go with Bosingwa--Dawson--Onuoha--Traore

I think Ferdinand and Dawson would be a sound pairing, Dawson is definitely captaincy material...

Suddenly... Two out from Spuds and Adebayor is now in. The transfer wheels are now greased and moving with gusto. Barton/M'bia deal next now anyone???
Wouldn't be surprised to Onouha/Dawson CB partnership on the horizon.
