According to reports it seems both Sean St Ledger and Zak whitbread could be available for the Blackpool game next Saturday... so who would you pick to partner big Wes...? SSL: He's already got a relationship with majority of the back five in Morgan, Konch and Kasper having played with them last season a number of times, of which i personally feel he played well when he had the opportunity in the team. I like how he seemed to knuckle down and get on with the job when he was 3rd/4th choice behind Wes, Mills and Bamba. For this he is owed some respect. He didn't have the greatest Euro's with Ireland but the experience would have done him no harm. ZW: Living in Norwich I've had a number of glowing references about the chap from canary fans, who are usually fair in their assessment of their own players. Wins everything in the air apparently and although he has a slim build for a defender he's a strong lad who takes no prisoners and has a niggle in his game to ruffle attackers. Has played with De Laet while at Norwich so will have some understanding on the right side of defence. Long term I'd like to have big Wes and Zak be our first choice CB pairing, think they could compliment each other... but against Blackpool I'd play SSL and Morgan purely on the fact they don't need to learn each others game and no time to do this against Blackpool who look rampant. i'd put the Wes and Zak pairing together against Wolves who are losing their best players. Or... would you stick with Moore?
Would rather see Whitbread on the left side of defence eventually as he's a natural left footer, not sure the relationship between CB and RB is as important as the CB pairing. However, I want St. Ledger for the moment- he's played more times with our current defence, has played more recently than Whitbread despite his injury (with the obvious inclusion in Ireland's squad, for whom I think he was one of the better performers- he got their only goal after all!) and doesn't really deserve to be left out with his most recent Leicester performances.
I think Nigel sees Whitbread and Morgan as the main centre halfs but with Whitbread not being able to play 2 or 3 games in a week, Sean St. Ledger will still get a decent amount of game time
Whitbread tomorrow to get him some game time, but SSL on Saturday for the points (after two league defeats on the bounce now is not the time to take risks)
