As things stand after today's games. 14th West Brom 33pts (-15) 15th Hull City 28pts (-14) 16th Aston Villa 28pts (-22) 17th Sunderland 26pts (-21) [To play Newcastle at home - game in hand] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18th QPR 25pts (-20) 19th Burnley 25pts (-23) [To play Tottenham at home - game in hand] 20th Leicester 22pts (-20) [To play Chelsea at home - game in hand] Games left: West Brom Leicester (h), C Palace (a), Liverpool (h), Man Utd (a), Newcastle (a), Chelsea (h) and Arsenal (a). Hull City Southampton (a), Liverpool (h), C Palace (a), Arsenal (h), Burnley (h), Tottenham (a) and Man Utd (h). Aston Villa QPR (h), Tottenham (a), Man City (a), Everton (h), West Ham (h), Southampton (a) and Burnley (h). Sunderland Newcastle (h), Crystal Palace (h), Stoke (a), Southampton (h), Everton (a), Leicester (h), Arsenal (a) and Chelsea (a). QPR Aston Villa (a), Chelsea (h), West Ham (h), Liverpool (a), Man City (a), Newcastle (h) and Leicester (a). Leicester West Brom (a), Swansea (h), Burnley (a), Chelsea (h), Newcastle (h), Southampton (h), Sunderland (a) and QPR (h). The final weekend has two potential "Loser goes down" games as Leicester Vs QPR and Aston Villa Vs Burnley. Sunderland end with a hard visit to Chelsea and we host Man Utd - difficult games (although the last time Sunderland and us ended with these opponents, we both stayed up). [West Brom are 5 points ahead at the moment but have a hard run in which could see some teams catch up - leaving them with Arsenal on the final game]. Who's for the drop?
Burnley and Leicester have the easiest fixtures, Hull have the hardest. It's going to be down to the last game
Southampton - point (a), Liverpool 3 points (h), C Palace - point (a), Arsenal - hammering (h), Burnley - 3 points (h), Tottenham (a) and Man Utd (h).
^ Above is just an example. That would give us an additional 8 points. Confident on the Liverpool and Burnley games, the rest not so..
Wouldn't give up just yet. It's a maths game now, not just for us, but those around us too. Lot's of games and permutations to play out. Not great at the moment, I'd agree, but all is definitely not lost.
One thing is for sure is leicester, qpr, burnley and sunderland fans are all starting to think we are catchable. We've given them all hope. It'll come down to the last week, we need 33 points I reckon. We might stay up but enough with the delusional bullshit. With that schedule the team needs to step it the **** up. We shouldn't be hoping on other results going our way every single week.
Can only see 4 more points if I'm honest. 3 against Burnley and 1 against Palace. Our goal difference will be worth another point. Can't hear any fat lady's singing yet but she's warming up.
To right we have given hope to the rest of the teams in and around us, we should of beat Sunderland and Leicester and if we did we wouldn't be in this mess, we'd be nearly safe. But right now I worry for us, i'm not being negative, I'm being realistic.
I have to say I think we are in the ****. Costly recent games away at Stoke and Swansea home versus Sunderland and Leicester. Players who get themselves sent off when the team are trying to get themselves back into a game. We'll get whatever we deserve at the end of the season - we can make all the excuses we want about injuries etc - simple fact is over 38 games we have not been good enough.
The issue has been when we have played teams around us. Burnley away we where dire, West Brom at home, Leicester at home, Sunderland at home, we should of won those games if we did we would be sitting happy. The performance last week was pointless, we need to play like that against the teams around us. For some reason though we have taken points away at some of the big teams but can't seem to beat those around us which might end up relegating us. The big thing is, we may only need 2 wins which is still easily doable, we could even fluke two wins, but the team need our support more than ever.
I The players boil my piss at times promising points and we're not in danger bollocks and serve up poor performances against teams we need to beat.
On paper, we look in the ****, with some difficult games to come. Fortunately, football is not played on paper and we will probably snatch a couple of cheeky draws from unlikely places. I think we will still be in a positive position come the last day, just may be praying on other results still.
Let's face it. No one knows. No one can. And what's worse is there is nack all anyone can do about it. Except wait.
I know a lot have said we are going down and I have got to admit looking at our fixtures you do wonder where we can get two wins from. Its ok saying we can get a point here and a win there of course we can but if most of the teams play to there best then they will beat us why because they are better than us. How ever we have got to stay positive and at times like today I know its hard to do so but even if we manage one win then the bottom 3 would have to win two plus draw one to over take us. Tomorrow's games are big for us with both Burnley and Sunderland playing both at home so they must have a chance lets hope Spurs and Newcastle do us a favour. We really do need to win some where unexpected which can happen, lets hope so and keep behind the lads no matter how down you feel tonight now is a time the fans have really got to unite behind the team and I can tell you all i'm gutted another Saturday night ruined.
