(Shamelessly taken from the WO) HOUSEKEEPING A brief note on the state of the Watford squad as we stand. Regardless of any players coming in before 5pm, Watford will need to shear five players from their ranks. Below is a comprehensive run down of the make-up of Watford’s bloated squad. Not home-grown goalkeepers (1): Heurelho Gomes Home-grown goalkeepers (1): Ben Foster Under-21 goalkeepers (2): Pontus Dahlberg; Sam Howes Not home-grown defenders (12): Brice Dja Djédjé, Kiko Femenía, Dimitri Foulquier, José Holebas, Daryl Janmaat, Adam Masina, Marc Navarro, Marvin Zeegelaar, Miguel Britos, Christian Kabasele, Younès Kaboul, Sebastian Prödl Home-grown defenders (2): Craig Cathcart, Adrian Mariappa Under-21 defenders (5): Andrew Eleftheriou, Lewis Gordon, Ben Wilmot; Tom Leighton, Joy Mukena Not home-grown midfielders (2): Étienne Capoue, Abdoulaye Doucouré Home-grown midfielders (3): Tom Cleverley, Nathaniel Chalobah, Will Hughes Under-21 midfielders (2): Ashley Charles, Harry Forster Not home-grown forwards (6): Gerard Deulofeu, Stefano Okaka, Obbi Oularé, Roberto Pereyra, Ken Sema, Isaac Success Home-grown forwards (3): Troy Deeney, Andre Gray, Alex Jakubiak Under-21 forwards (5): Adalberto Peñaranda; Ryan Cassidy, Michael Folivi, Dion Pereira
Marvin Zeegelaar; Brice Dja Djédjé; Dimitri Foulquier; Obbi Oularé; and one other... Success to Villa? Kaboul yet to feature? Okaka (somewhat unfairly imho) shown the door? We'll know soon enough...
Let's just hope our strikers can hit form then ! Really think we needed another forward and defender . Or just keep everyone decent fit ! Already we have 3/4 key players suffering ..
Is that the full squad? So players not named in it need to be moved on? It's got 30 players in it. (I am confused)
Thanks, you have deconfuddled me. Any idea when squad has to be handed in? Surely, must be before first game?
It also excludes anyone currently listed within one of the U-23 or U-18 squads who may have had a shirt number last season, and will probably still have that number if they are called into the first team squad - one example is Dion Pereira
Because we need more players who can hit the target; who go down easily; and who threaten supply lines.
There was a further release of Squad numbers to the EPL which has subsequently been taken down, that was on the 14th and a number of names were missing such as Peneranda because they still need to sort out his paperwork so he can't play or be involved until that is sorted but hopefully they do so by the end of the month. Kaboul was also not on that list. Neither Dja Djédjé or Obbi Oularé (who is injured) were on that list and with over 2 weeks of the window still to go we can be sure of further outgoing players of which Okaka and Zeegelaar are the most likely. This would just leave the question over Paneranda and / or Success - will both be in the squad? Will one or both be out on loan? From the Brighton match it appears Success has his focus on making the team and based on what I saw, he can do it and be the player we all thought he could be.
