The 25 man squad has to be submitted today but an interesting thing that caught my eye this morning was this on the bbc website. Top-flight clubs must submit their 25-man squads to the Premier League by 1600 BST today. A full club-by-club breakdown will be available on the Premier League website at 1700-1800 this evening. If a club is unable to name 25 fit, over-21 players, in their squad they will be allowed to submit a list with a number of open positions that can then be filled by free agents at any time. However, clubs who do have 25 fit and over-21 players cannot deliberately leave players off the list in order to fill them with free agents between now and January 1. So will we have a spare place for a free agent?

Premier League rules state that if you have a player over the age of 21 you HAVE to pick them in your 25 man squad, unless you have over 25 players over the age of 21. We have less than 25 players over the age of 21, so Doni has to be selected.
all that really needs to be said here is we've barely a pot to piss in when a keeper who doens't actually play for us anymore is included. most sides don't have 25 over 21s anyway but the trend for our club is fewer numbers each year it seems.
I am most interested if we have the lowest average age in the league this season? Last season we were 4th; but after getting rid of Bellamy, Maxi, Kuyt, Aurelio etc... and adding the youger players we have this window I would be shocked if we were not the lowest! Last season the average age of our squad was 25.42 with the league as a whole 26.35, the youngest squad was Norwich with 25.08. Not that this is the defining gauge of success but it surely makes you question the refusal to sign the likes of Dempsey due to age!
