I think I saw somewhere on here that Oli is going to number 16 this season. That's all though.

I could put money on Koren being number 10, and Fryatt being 12. On the training photo's, Proschwitz had 18, whether that's temporary or not we'll see.

Stewart may lose number 7 to Aluko.

Chester will probably still be 5 and Dawson will be 3.

Jakupovic will most likely be number 1 due to him being here permanently, unless of course Amos is the favoured of the 2 and gets the number 1 shirt as priority of starting.

I believe Mclean is number 9 and that isn't a joke.

Aluko could get No.19(which was his Rangers No.) with Dudgeon taking No.23

No.15 may go to Alex Bruce especially if McShane leaves. Faye could get No.16

Nos. 17, 20, 21, 22, 24 are also Free and Sonny Bradleys No.26 shirt from last season is also technically free now.

These days squad numbers are just that. The number on the shirt is just for the programme and no longer signifies anything else.

As an example...Norwich striker Morison played in the No.5 shirt last season. Lol.

Agree. If players have a preferred number, they are usually offered it (Fryatt's is 12, not sure of the significance though), but outside of that it's usually just the ones that are left over. The players already at the club usually keep their numbers (Think Garcia was an exception last year because he didn't know if he'd be playing for us or not). I heard a rumour when we signed Geovanni that he wanted number 78, but apparently the club said no. It's common in Italy and Brazil to have high shirt numbers, simply because they don't give a **** about it. I don't really mind who has what number, I know a lot of people whinge about high squad numbers but it's honestly not that important.

I mean, Derek Riordan played for Hibs with the number 1 shirt and he was up front.

Fryatt has some strange superstition that if he has the number 12, he will do better than any other number or something.

Some of it will probably be as you were last season, Fryatt 12, Rosenior 2, Chester 5, Hobbs 6. Guess we'll know by Saturday anyway.

Well as another example you could make all your strikers take the No.9 in there number. 9-19-29-39 and so on. Normally the players at the club keep the number they prefer.

For what its worth i expect Ben Amos to take the No.1 shirt. So maybe Jakupovic will be given the No.21 shirt. See what i did there ?

You'll only have to wait till Saturday pal, the squad numbers have to be decided by then. As I said, they'll probably be the same as last season.

I expect Jakupovic to take the No.1 shirt simply because he's a permanent signing. It doesn't mean he'll actually be our number one.

I don't even know why squad numbers interest me but they always do.
I'd expect much of the same although I wouldn't be surprised to see Simpson take back the number 23 shirt and hand the 11 to Aluko.

    Eh up how's that then?

He made an earlier point about positions getting multiples of the single numbers. E.g. a team's main striker would wear 9, so by his logic (which btw would make everything easier!), the other strikers should be 19,29,39 etc (Making Cullen 109).

The goalie one, if Amos is 1, he can't be number 11 (in theory) so he'd be 21, 31 etc...

Koren 7? It's not even certain that he'll definitely be here next Season yet.
I can't see them changing him to 7 when he plays the number 10 role. It just doesn't make sense :undecided:
