Both Jokanovic and Aluko have come out and said the squad doesn't have the experience to challenge the top Championship clubs. Do we have a least 2 players for each position if there are injures or are we about to rely on the U21-18 squad to fill the holes. Sone Aluko “The first 14 or so players is solid & that’s what we need to take the club to where they want to go, which is the Premier League. I’ve been in two promotions so I know what it takes to fire at the top end and you need a bigger squad than we’ve got." Jokanovic has already commented during the Friendlies about the lack of experienced players in a small squad. Still a month to go in the transfer window, but will we be waiting till the last minute to pick up other clubs rejects.
And don't let's forget the wages saved. Can't believe, with FFP in mind, that didn't have a bearing when it was decided to sell McCormack. Quick update on an earlier post: "Just weighing up the scales: Out 11 lots of wages (at least four sizeable) and received fees of at a guess, £18-19m In 7 lots of wages (three are frees/loan; Madl not counted since already here) and paid fees of at a guess, £4-5m" In terms of squad size, we now have 16 fit outfielders who have been given numbers. Including the 16yr old Sessegnon. It's not rocket science to see we need to recruit. Hopefully Mr Khan visitation has a purpose.
Hopefully Khan has a glance at the Guardian who are tipping us to go down in their review of the league.
