Cheers THFC6061. Chris Ramsey pointed out that our midfield (Livermore, Carroll, Mason) for yesterday's win was of Premier League quality, in his opinion, so it's nice to see that we have some depth, too. Must've been a pretty young line up for this one.
I personally don't like the idea of having 'B' teams in the Football League but it would be interesting to see how our u21s and some of our other young players would fare against Championship/League One sides in competitive matches.
Just read the OS match report: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/development-squad-150113.page? Do we score 90% of our goals at all levels in the 2nd half?
Do you remember us being 1-0 up to Wigan Athletic at half-time a few years back only to finish the game with a 9-1 win? Eight goals scored in 39 second-half minutes, if memory serves.
I think Pritchard is a really exciting prospect, I saw him very early on this season at a friendly in Kingston. But even then you could see he is a very neat and tidy, creative little player who gets goals as well by the looks of things. I'd like to see him go out on loan to a Championship team and make a big impact.
Rumours from the tribe (on the other side) yesterday that Pritchard may be in the process of being poached by Inglethorpe for the Pooool. Anyone here more ITK want to confirm/refute this ??
Spurcat's suggested as much since before Inglethorpe even let, RDBD. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he's trying, but I hope that we do whatever we can to put a block on it.
Spurcat, the fact that we failed to capitalize against Coventry in the second half doesn't bode well for us imo. It was the same last season when we only scored one against Newcastle in the second half after being four up at half time. Look what happened,we didn't make the CL because of what I considered at the time a noticeable weakness. Same against Coventry, should have scored 7 or 8 after being 3 up at half time. Maybe the same sort of thing as last season where we fail at the death.
My take on those games you refer to, is that both were pretty much over at half-time and then we witnessed the same old story of players not over exerting themselves when they don't really need to. Of course it would have been nice to see us go on and get 7 or 8 as Chelsea did against Aston Villa, but given our hectic schedule in January and coming after a busy December, I don't have too much of an issue with "only" scoring 3 against Coventry.
I've never thought of the B team being in the lower leagues, like how Spain do it. I'd quite like to see it actually, will never happen but it'd be great to get youngsters used to playing against "proper" teams. May actually make a thread about this, interesting topic in my opinion.
The thing about the Barca B team is that it cannot be promoted to be in the same league as the first team. That means a team getting promoted who didn't finish in a promotion place, nor are they allowed to participate in their cup comp the Copa Del Rey.
But Spurcat,we were three up against Wigan one year at half time and went on to score nine and made the CL I think. Ade was clean through and was pushed off the ball in one incident. It wasn't through lack of trying against Coventry it was lack of further goal scoring skill.
