Back in the olden days - a forum existed called BBC 606, where merry mass debaters would converge to talk about the game we know as Footie. One of these debates revolved around the name Tottenham Hotspur and it's origins. At the time Spurs were hoping to move to Stratford, so I naturally suggested that should they move, they would no longer be called Tottenham. The spuddies didn't like that. So I suggested that seeing as the name Hotspur wasn't theirs originally, they might also like to consider changing the name Hotspur also to something that represented their history in an authentic way.
