News of two days ago but i thought you guys had picked this up already...

Dutch media are reporting that Dutch International Stekelenburg(29) is a target for the Spurs to replace Friedel(41). The former Ajax goalie went to AS Roma last season for 7 million euros(6 million pounds) but failed to impress in Rome. As Roma is aiming to reel in Julio Cesar from Internazionale to replace Stekelenburg.

His manager, Rob Jansen, has confirmed that Tottenham has shown interest in the goalie but also added that the Spurs wasn't the only club that has informed about the player. "Maarten is one of three goalies that are on the list of the Spurs but he is happy at AS Roma but Tottenham is a big club in England and he has always dreamed of playing the the Premier League."

If anyone is being replaced, it's Gomes.

    Might actually be Cudicini, Croydon.
Gomes apparently has 2 years left on his deal and it doesn't look like anyone's come in for him.
His native language might help him out with the new coach, too! <laugh>

Doesn't look like Cesar is leaving Milan, so Steklenberg is certainly worth a try.
He is the current national keeper so isn't that bad and he's mates with Rafa so he might put in a good word.

Steklenberg, Rafa and Vertonghen are all buddies so would be good.

    How old is Julio Cesar?

Yeah, I don't know when he extended his initial deal, but it seems to have escaped everyone's notice.

32, but his birthdays on the 3rd of September.

if he is the keeper that played at euro 2012 then he looked crap.....but then again peter cech looked awful in the group stages so maybe thats a sign of a great keeper

Roma missed out on European football, so they might want to get their wages down - they have four keepers in their first team as it is.

aah so could be a bit of a gem..still think Lioris would be a better long term option he could be between the sticks fopr a good few years...was reading in the paper last night that we have agreed a 12mill fee but is all dependent on Modric deal..which proves many posters right that our transfer activity has come to a standstill due to the Modric saga
