The loss to Southampton came in a very disappointing display and was the first defeat suffered under new Head Coach, Francesco Guidolin. The result leaves the Swans in 16th place, only 3 points away from the relegation zone. The day after Swansea's defeat, Spurs travelled to the Etihad Stadium and beat fellow title challengers Man City. Spurs were fortunate to be awarded a dubious penalty for their first goal, but Christian Eriksen struck a late winner to keep Spurs in second spot, good enough to close the gap on Leicester to only 2 points who had lost earlier in the day to Arsenal. In the corresponding match last season, Spurs beat Swansea 3-2. The match is best remembered for the collapse of Bafetimi Gomis which sparked fears for the player's safety. Thankfully, he was ok. Chadli, Mason & Townsend scored for Spurs, with Ki & Sigurdsson replying for the Swans. Spurs play Fiorentina home & away in the Europa League, and Crystal Palace in the FA Cup before playing Swansea, whilst the Swans have no competitive matches during that period. The Swans will be hoping that these games will prove tiring for the Spurs' players. My head says that Spurs will beat the Swans 3-1, but I've got a feeling that we may sneak a 1-1 draw. We certainly need every point we can muster!
That's our only hope. We'll attack from the opening minute and go at them with all guns blazing. Spurs to win 3-0
Best we can get here is a draw, but with our gutless crew, I think we could get thumped, Spurs will target this game to close the gap on the leaders, saying that though, we did break our Toffee's duck, so maybe we can break the Spurs duck too, they can't win against us all the time, the law of averages is in our favour surely, so I'm changing my prediction to an unlikely 1-2 win for the mighty Swans..
Head says comfortable Spurs win, heart says comfortable Spurs win. Outrageously overly optimistic voice-in-head, whilst drunk, says 0 - 0 if we park the bus and lock the garage doors and get the game called off after 5 minutes. Rather than put out the same team and park the bus I'd like to see Guids try something different, his three at the back or just try and be more dynamic, maybe on the counter if not straight out attack. You could argue it's a free shot as we're expected to get thrashed. Being Italian and in the position we're in though he'll be conservative and not want to concede too many. To be fair our goal difference is as good as an extra point at the moment.
No competition.....spurs will smash us. we are not good enough as a team that can play together. We struggle against teams that suppose to be on our level and cant get a result so how do we cope with superior teams scoring for fun....We have bought badly we panic manage and the board think we are a div2 side mentally when it comes to spending on a decent manager and the right players. you cant expect us to compete as a premiership club like that.....
Spurs unbeaten in last 7 games. Cannot honestly see us stopping that. Basing my prediction on the Saints game 4-0 Spurs. We have nothing.Rose tinted glasses, blinkers off.
Goal difference could be critical at the end of the season and whilst no one gives us a chance we need to avoid a good thumping and hey who knows we might sneak a point!
I don't like doing it but we should park the bus and try to limit spurs chances and you never know we may get a breakaway goal...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/wales/35579645 Guess there is no pressure with the contracts that the squad have...
I think we are all agreed that spurs are heavy favourites so why not try gomis and alberto together with barrow and Montero on the flanks. This would give us pace on the flanks and hopefully at least one striker in the box.
I posted that we'd be lucky to get a point from our two upcoming away fixtures and this won't be where we get it, if at all. As always I hope I'm wrong but I see 3-0 or worse.
1-0 to Spurs or 0-0 draw, our players are not as bad as some try to make out, after all we've only lost one in five. I would like to see Poleschi and Gomis start too.
