Just enquiring about away allocation. What's the numbers away fans usually receive? I've got my ticket and we've sold out but just wondering exactly how many tickets we actually got
It is possible you may have been given less than your full entitlement due under PL rules. This is because our ground is subject to the local authority granting a safety certificate before each home game. There are occasions where, in their wisdom, the local council decide adequate segregation measures cannot be guaranteed, so then reduce the away team allocation. Having said all that, a quick glance at your website ticket section, hints that this game went to general sale for your supporters.
Yes it did mate, a handful of tickets were available and were quickly snapped up, our away support is fantastic considering our location and our lack of success, really looking forward to this one I just hope we are safe by the time it comes round
The only bit of trouble I've ever seen around WHL with away fans was a Sunderland fan, bizzarely, who looked like he'd taken a couple of punches walking to Northumberland Park. No idea what happened but there were a few bits of verbals being exchanged with him and his mates and some other fairly young Spurs fans, some older Spurs boys did us proud and got in between the two groups though and walked the Sunderland lot to the station. All a bit strange and I can't even remember the result let alone the reason for the tension off the top of my head but you could tell at the final whistle that it was probably a bad idea to let the away fans out at the same time as the Spurs fans, which they did of course. I remember reading on old 606 the next day there was a Sunderland lad annoyed that someone from the Spurs end threw a tikka pie that ruined his jacket Anyway, not sure why I've written this story but if Danny Dyer's reading this and wants to make a PG Football Factory sequel...
The example of ticket allocation reduction I was talking about, usually occurs for FA Cup games rather than PL games. I remember the Charlton game a couple of years ago when they asked for their full entitlement of 15% and the local authority decided there were not adequate segregation arrangements in place to warrant their request. Charlton therefore only received the usual 10% allocation. I see no reason why Sunderland shouldn't have been given the usual 3000ish allocation, their fans have always been superb in my experience. As for trouble at WHL, thankfully things are far more civilised these days (except when West Ham are around), although the club did receive reports of an incident at the last home game against Southampton.
