Pompey take a break from their league campaign when they head to Tottenham Hotspur for a glamour tie in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off).

If you discount an EFL Trophy victory over the Londoners’ under-21 side in 2018, it is the first meeting between the clubs since a magical day at Wembley in April 2010.

Little was expected of the financially-ravaged Blues when they lined up against Spurs for a place in the final – indeed, their Premier League relegation had been confirmed the previous day.

But extra-time strikes from Frederic Piquionne and Kevin-Prince Boateng secured a famous triumph against Harry Redknapp’s expensively-assembled outfit.

Of course, it would be considered an even greater upset if the visitors progressed at the impressive Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.

Pompey sit 12th in League One and are under the temporary charge of Simon Bassey following the departure of Danny and Nicky Cowley on Monday night.

Their top-flight opponents by contrast, enjoyed a thumping midweek success at Crystal Palace and have a Champions League clash with AC Milan to look forward to next month.

Were the Blues able to take the lead, fans might want to wait before celebrating, as VAR will be used to settle any controversial decisions.

Should the tie finish all square after 90 minutes, a replay will be held at Fratton Park.

    TEAM NEWS
Louis Thompson is likely to be named on the bench after recovering from a broken leg, while Kieron Freeman could be available following a calf problem.

Marlon Pack begins a two-match suspension and Dane Scarlett cannot feature against his parent club.

Tom Lowery (hamstring), Joe Rafferty (stomach), Jayden Reid (knee) and skipper Clark Robertson (hip) are all still injured.

Tottenham are likely to be without Rodrigo Bentancur (thigh), Lucas Moura (knee), and Richarlison (thigh), while Dejan Kulusevski is also a doubt with a muscular problem.

    And I do.

Shame I wasn't even able to have a chance of getting a ticket due to the train strikes after having missed all of Farnborough's historic run in the fa cup proper. Still, being the fa cup against premier league opposition it may be possible to find a dodgy stream online. If I can, I'll post it here.

Oh I don't have a TV licence and the Beeb get quite shirty if you use iplayer without it, so dodgy stream for me.

If you for some reason want to watch the game with German commentary, here you go:

Half time. 0-0 at the moment. We have played well, keeping our defensive shape. Could have taken the lead early on with our only shot on goal so far.

Superb overhead kick by Reeco Hackett pushed wide of the post by Fraser Forster, from a header by Colby Bishop.

Hope we can keep this up in the second half against a very good Spurs side.

Emerson Royale heads a Son cross against the inside of the post, and the ball bounces into Josh Griffiths arms.
