http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7694890/Prem-eyes-on-Dutch-gem Sky Sports understands highly-rated Feyenoord winger Jerson Cabral is a target for a number of Premier League clubs. Cabral is regarded as one of the best talents to emerge in Holland in recent years and has represented Holland all the way up from Under 17 level to the Under 21s. The 21-year-old caught the eye of a number of sides after starring for Holland in the Under 19 European Championship campaign in 2009/10 and he established himself as a key player in the Feyenoord side. Feyenoord have helped develop the likes of Robin van Persie and Cabral is tipped to be the next big player to emerge from their academy. Cabral, who has scored six goals and has six assists to his name this season, has been likened to countryman Arjen Robben in his style of play in that he can play on the left and right wing. The exciting winger has just a year to run on his current contract at De Kuip and Feyenoord have offered him a new deal to secure his long-term future. However, sources close to the player claim Cabral could be tempted to leave Feyenoord this summer for a switch to England. The news has alerted a host of clubs across Europe with Newcastle and Tottenham both thought to be leading the chase to bring Cabral to the Premier League. Anyone know anything about this guy? It appears our prayers for a new "winger" option, might be something that the club are looking at sooner, rather than later. Is he the right player for us? or should we be looking for a player with prem experience? Have we now turned our head to this guy, as we don't believe we've got the clout to land Hazard? I know nothing of the guy, so If someone could inform me (and I expect quite a few others), that'd be great! Discuss.
Know nothing about him, but it's great to hear that we're being linked with exciting young foreign talent. Even if it is nothing more than gutter press speculation.
If it's between us and Newcaslte he'll choose the Champions League team. Never heard of him though, anyone actually watched him?
A quick poke around online says he plays in the VDV role for Feyenoord rather than on the wing at present, or can be played on the left of a 4-3-3. His record this season is somewhat underwhelming (6 goals and 4 assists in 26 games), although this is his first full season so he may develop into a much better player. On the one hand our midfield is the area that needs the least work in the summer, but on the other hand Bale needs cover so if he can be signed for a reasonable fee (£3m plus add-ons) and is given a few run-outs in low priority fixtures early on he could become legitimate competition for Bale's place or, at the very least, a more than capable understudy.
hahaha!! and he even looks a bit like Pienaar. Perhaps we could get Jason Lee out of retirement, too? Honestly, it's great being linked with young talent like HIAG says, but is this not just another "Falque" signing? Haven;t we got enough youthful talent on the way through! Sadly, if we don't make the CL, these are the names we're going to be linked to. "future talent". Unfortunately, future talent doesn't solve the short term.
The difference between Cabral and Falque is that, quite simply, Cabral has a couple of season's worth experience of being a first-team player for one of Holland's top teams. Falque, on the other hand, has a season's worth of experience on loan at Villarreal B.
