http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/spurs-striker-heading-for-exit---reports Roman Pavlyuchenko looks set to leave Tottenham in January after Russian media reports suggested the 29-year-old had agreed terms with Lokomotiv Moscow. The Russian international has found first team football hard to come by this season and has not started a single Premier League game so far, with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp preferring to partner either Rafael Van Der Vaart or Jermain Defoe with on-loan Manchester City forward Emmanuel Adebayor. Pavluchenko has long been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane having never fully settled in north London, but appears eager to find a new club in the new year with the European Championships looming large on the horizon. Soversky Sport report that Pavlyuchenko has agreed a salary and will complete the move in January when Tottenham Hotspur and Lokomotiv agree a fee, with the Russian side hoping to pay around £7.7 million, while Spurs will likely hold out for in more in order to recoup as much of the £13 million they paid for former Spartak Moscow forward in 2008 as possible. Everton had previously been linked with a move for the Russian striker who has impressed only in fits and spurts during his time with Spurs, but with the Toffees said to be angling for a loan move rather than a permanent deal, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is likely to favour a switch Russia. It is believed the former Portsmouth boss is keen to get Pavlyuchenko off the wage bill in order to free up some cash for transfers next month with Spurs linked with a move for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao and Colgne striker Luka Podolski in the January transfer window. Tottenham Hotspur also let Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch leave White Hart Lane over the summer.
Not before time. They wouldn't like an overpriced, show-pony of a winger, too, would they? It's a Bentley - not that you'd ever know it!
Good. He's a talented player, but he's too lazy, doesn't appear to do enough to challenge for a place in the first XI and doesn't suit our system. Hope he rediscovers some form in Moscow and we can see him playing well at the Euros, though. I'm sure that you're as unsurprised by that stat as I am, Ensil. Bent's one of the laziest players I've ever seen and Birming... er, I mean Villa are one of the most negative teams. They should be playing with N'Zogbia and Albrighton out wide, emphasising that width and getting the ball up to Heskey and Bent as much as possible. Bring on Agbonlahor for the ageing donkey in the second half and he'd terrorize tired defenders, too.
About time. £7.7m will be a great deal too. Personally wouldn't rate him more then £5m at best at the moment. Has amazing technique when striking the ball (with both feet it has to be said) but offers nothing else. Wish all the best though if the deal goes ahead.
Even if we kept him Defoe and Pav are no replacements for Adebayor. I always liked him but he wants to leave and his performances this season have shown that it's time to move on.
We need someone that can play the lone striker role effectively. It's an integral part of our system and we only have one person that can currently do it.
Hope there's some truth in this story - it's been doing the rounds for a while. Get rid of Pav is a positive and the fact that it must surely mean we're then looking to bring someone else in is another positive. 10 excellent goals a season and absolutely sod all else is nowhere near good enough.
Pav is finished as a spurs player so the sooner he goes the better! Podolski would be a nice signing as a replacement!!
We all (mostly all) hoped for this and about time too.Now who do we try and entice to Spurs(at a reasonable price and average wages)?
TalkSport are suggesting that we're trying to use Pavlyuchenko as part exchange for Loic Remy of Marseille. Like most of what they say, that sounds pretty unlikely. We were linked with him a couple of years ago, just before he joined his current club from Nice. Cardozo's a decent shout, but Benfica won't want to lose him, as they've progressed in the Champions League. He'd also expect to start. Perhaps a younger player might be more appropriate?
Leandro Damiao is the answer. Surely if we are still in the top 4 (hopefully 3) he would want to join and fire us to the CL.
If and when we (finally) sign Leandro, who wants to lead the conga around the stadium that it's finally done and dusted? If not Leandro, Cavani is a decent shout (and with wages around £60k per week, he fits the wage structure) - but their progress in the CL presumably puts that on hold until the summer.
The problem for us with Damiao is that he hit top form at just the wrong time.He looked a certain signing at one time, then he starts banging them in.Thus they wouldn't sell until the end of their season.By which time his value had trebled.
True Leandro seems to be out of our price range now due to their chairman constantly talking him up in the media. Cavani we stand no chance with, Napoli will want in excess of £30m and if he's to leave, he'll want massive wages I reckon. Llorente maybe in our price range, but he's not got the speed like Ade has. Great target man though. I also wouldn't mind someone like a Davids-esque signing. Someone who's done it all and has one maybe two years left. Someone similar to Raul/ Van Nistlerooy/ Henry - not them exactly but along them lines if you catch my drift.
7.7 million for Pav seems like a great deal for us. It's an interesting problem, a player who can score but doesn't put in a professional level effort, and I get the feeling the answer is somewhere deep in Russian psychology. Anyway, good luck to him and I hope he gets himself sorted out. I agree it should be someone either at the beginning or end of his career. He's got to be good enough to take over, yet affordable and willing to be a backup.
