Well, tomorrow we play against the sad shadow of a once-exciting team. We have to pray that that description does not end up applying to Spurs by Monday, too. My dad was a Southampton fan, so I retain a portion of sympathy for them. And always feel happier when they are in the top flight beside us. Nowadays, sadly, they have become a yoyo club. Not long before he died, I took him to a game at WHL. We won 1-0. He’d travelled all the way up to London from Hayling Island just to see his team. I’ve never felt so reluctant to celebrate a victory! Inside, I was praying they would equalise before the final whistle. So whilst I regard this game as a 100% “must-win” for our team, our manager and our club, I hope Southampton will return to our stadium before too long. Here's Rosemary Clooney wishing them a sad au revoir! This ole club once won its matches, This ole club was not in strife. This ole club once got promoted And deserved that better life. This whole team once ran with purpose - You could hear their fans all shout - Now they tremble at the prospect: Relegation counts them out. Ain't a gonna play this team no longer, Ain't a gonna play this team no more. Ain't got cash to buy a striker - Ain't quite good enough to score . Ain't got time to get those points now So they’ll drop back down again; Ain't gonna see this team no longer: We’re getting ready to greet the Saints. This ole team has gotten shaky This ole team has gotten old This ole team lets in the goals And their best players have been sold! How they long for Matt Le Tissier Gareth Bale and Terry Paine! We will beat them here tomorrow (But they’ll come back up again!) (Ain't a gonna play this team no longer, etc... ... We’re getting ready to meet the Saints!) This ole club has great traditions: This ole club has a splendid past! Their supporters shouldn’t grumble, Even though they know they’ll finish last! Their revival’s looking feeble Their revival’s looking faint They may think they’ve earned survival - But it’s sadly clear they ain’t! (Ain't a gonna play this team no longer, etc... ... We’re getting ready to beat the Saints!) (Ain't a gonna play this team no longer, etc... ... We’re getting ready to beat the Saints!) Prediction: Spurs 3 Southampton 0 Scorers: Bergvall, Solanke, Sarr Cheers, Spurf!
