I thought we might try and do a loan swap of Vinnie or Llorente for Benteke. I think that's where we might have success, in offering someone we don't want as an immediate replacement for someone another club doesn't seem to need. Benteke's not happy at Palace and isn't offering them much, even when fit. Maybe we could find the player of a few season's ago. No doubting that he'd be a total punt at this point.

From the BBC Gossip this afternoon I got the right club but wrong player

Liverpool's Belgium striker Divock Origi, 23, is among the players Tottenham are considering with England striker Harry Kane, 25, out injured. (Telegraph)

Tottenham have planned a 'top-level meeting' to discuss how to deal with Kane's absence over the next couple of months. Loan signings are being considered, as well as the potential promotion of 16-year-old academy striker Troy Parrott. (Talksport)

The second source is highly dubious but the final sentence maybe the closest to the truth

Origi's the right kind of player and if memory serves me right (it often doesn't), we were interested in him when he went to them. He's really hit and miss from watching him for Wolfsburg when he was on loan there.

Would Liverpool sell/loan him to us? They've certainly got their act together on sales, and if they were willing to sell, £19m for Solanke suggests that he'd be expensive, more expensive than he's worth, for me.

He's got 18 months left on his contract and he's surplus to requirements, so they might allow him to join us.
I doubt that they'd make the negotiations particularly pleasant, though.

From the BBC's reporting of MP's press conference...

Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been ruled out for two weeks with a groin injury.

The Frenchman suffered the problem in the defeat against Manchester United on Sunday and looks like missing at least three games.

Sissoko joins Harry Kane in the treatment room, with the England striker set to be missing until early March.

I do hope that's true.

If Liverpool had this many injuries the pundits would be falling over themselves to provide excuses for bad performances. The term "injury crisis" would be used in every report. When Spurs have the injuries it's because our squad isn't big enough as we haven't bought anyone. Yes we haven't bought anyone, but this many injuries would test anyone's squad, and the "squad depth" are already playing.

Absolutely. I think if they lost 2 of Salah, Firminho and Mane they would be a Europa cup standard team.

You are looking at this in completely the wrong way. The true question is this :

How sh*te are the Poool after 23 PL games, to be only 9 pts ahead of Spurs given the latter :

1. had 9 players on full WC fixture duty in the summer

2. have had a CM/DM injury plague that has been going on all season

3. have a key attacking player TWICE having to be released for international duty
(missing at least 3 club games)

4. have played at least 4 more League Cup games, with :

- all opponents being PL teams
- at least three of which have been against current PL top 5 teams

5. are still in the FA Cup

But Liverpool do have an injury crisis. The Ox , Lovren Gomez, Alexander-Arnold and Wijnaldum. All top top players.

Ours is made worse because Son is on International duty. And because, according to Jamie Redknapp, we sold Dembele

6. Have had "the benefit" of enough decisions and luck to account for (generously) 9 points.

Not sure about "top" players. Let's see them cope without Virgil Van-hissy-fit-or-transfer Dijk, Saleh, Mane and/or Firmino. That would be a better comparison.
