With our players involved in a few youth tournaments over the summer I feel like we need a fresh thread for the Spurs players away on international duty. Dempsey scored a penalty against against Belgium the other night and Coulthirst scored the opener for England under 19s in a 3-0 win over Scotland. Unfortunately other results meant we missed out on qualification for the u19 Euros. http://www.thefa.com/england/mens-u19s/News/2013/scotland-elite-qualifying-round-belgium-report Looking forward, the Euro Under 21s kick off next Wednesday with Caulker, Smith, Rose and Holtby in action and all games will be televised on Sky Sports. Under 20s are also in action with Spurs represented by Pritchard and Kane in the England squad and that will be on Eurosport, I believe. In addition, there's a few chances to watch some Spurs "targets" this summer with Damiao in the squad for their game against England on Sunday and is joined by Villa and Soldado in the Confederations Cup. It's no replacement for watching Spurs but with, hopefully, a few signings chucked in along the way and it should just about keep us going through the summer.
Such a shame Townsend had to be a twat with his gambling, the U21 championship could really have done him wonders to showcase what he can do on the international stage and boost his profile and prospects of giving AVB a selection headache. I can see all 3 of Caulker, Rose and Smith starting for England as long as they're fit. So they can all have chances of staking claims here too, after Walker's season, I think Smith has a great opportunity to show what he's all about.
He never did that for us! That was one of the things that mystified me last season, he just couldn't connect with the his long range shots like he did at Fulham. Imagine what it'd be like if he started doing that regularly for us alongside Bale! We wouldn't need to get the ball into the box Fineshed 4-3.
The BBC are saying Holtby will be one to watch for the U21 Championships. That guarantees he won't start a game, then...
He's captain of their under 21s so he should do. Poor start from England, starting to settle a bit more though.
Yeah, jinxed it by saying we were settling. Not a fan of anything I've seen from us so far, poor formation, poor player choices and poor organisation. Their number 10 looks very tricky though, as you'd expect from an Italian side.
1-0 Craig Dawson. Relation? Edit: Got disallowed. It was then ruled out after the ref had already given it. Looked like a very soft foul to give in the build up.
