Did Jan Vertonghen buy a red card there against FC Dnipro (Ukraine)?

He seemed to go down Bradley Johnson style?

Emmanuel Adebayor onced again Baled Spurs out with a couple of well taken goals - that used to be Defoe's job in European play.

Dnipro's Roman Zozulya was incredulous at the red card shown by referee Antony Gautier

I noted only a token clap for Jermain Defoe from Daniel Levy during his half-time farewell appearance.

Well after all our Cernyesque speculation over the years, he did at least finish up on a Thursday?

Jermain Defoe missed the opportunity to make a farewell appearance for Tottenham against Dnipro because of a hamstring injury.

But the England striker, who joins Canadian MLS side Toronto on Friday, waved a fond farewell to Spurs fans during an emotional half-time appearance at White Hart Lane.

Defoe, 31, is Spurs' fifth all-time leading goalscorer after netting 143 goals in 363 appearances in two separate spells.

In the NHL that would have been equal penalties for butting and diving which is how I see it too.

Should have been a yellow each. The Norwich style faking should just be a yellow to the Norwich player.

In football cheating works which is why they do it, even the reviews support the cheater.

Roman Zozulya is livid, he has to be restrained, with Emmanuel Adebayor taking up the role of keeper of the peace, trying to calm the Dnipro player down. I'm not sure Zozulya has any right to be livid. The Dnipro man sharply escalates a bit of routine penalty-box push and shove with Jan Vertonghen by head-butting the Tottenham defender. Off you go...

It was a 1 inch headbutt, unless he is Bruce Lee, the other bloke has every right to be livid. JV plays dead until the card pops out and then he is perfectly fine.

Footballers are idiots though, if they get mad they do the stupidest things, either give then a full on punch or proper headbutt to get your moneys worth but no, they do a chin grab or girly slap that wouldn't hurt a child.
