Spurs Fans???

Can anyone explain to me why Spurs, a team we have never had a rivalry with in any competitions and aren't in the same local area as, are so obsessed with our club and our fans?

Its really weird and doesn't make any sense to me.

You've got that absolutely obsessed HIAG's (who I'm certain lost the love of his life to a Liverpool player or fan or something such is his obsession and the size of the chip on his shoulder) thread on their board on here (that never drops from the top of their first page of threads) and on most of the other Spurs forums also have a LFC related thread.

Its fair to say that everybody, besides Liverpool fans, is absolutely basking in our recent blip, but Spurs fans, even moreso than Mancs and Blueshite, seem to have taken it to another level. They (especially HIAG) go to so much effort with this is well which makes it even more strange.

Some of them are deliberately going on LFC forums and news sites to keep up with whats happening with us, just so they can look for anything they can spin, massively exaggerate and/or misrepresent as more evidence of our downfall. You would think they would rather spend all that time and energy supporting their own club.

Besides are real rivals (Blues and Mancs) no other teams fans seem to care about us, yet a lot (not all) of Spurs fans are obsessed with us.

Considering this group of Spurs fans are constantly harping on about them now being 'bigger' (yeh, I know thats funny) than us, and us being irrelevant to themselves and the top 4 teams, they don't half seem to be pre-occupied with, and paying a lot of attention to, our club.

I used to like Spurs fans when I lived down there, they were much nicer and more down to earth than stuck up, arrogant, Arsenal fans, I also have a lot of admiration for what Levy and the clubs leadership have achieved too, but I've found over the last couple of seasons they've started to become a bit carried away with what they've achieved and some of them have let it go to their heads. They also seem to have wiped from their collective memories anything that happened in English footy before 2008.

So, first question fellow Reds; can anyone explain to me why their so interested in our club and what we do or what happens to us, considering how often they tell us were a small, irrelevant mid-table club now that they have surpassed?

Second question lads: Are we really that far behind that little second tier of clubs battling for that 4th place (Arsenal, Newcastle, Spurs and Everton - currently a bit better than us, but behind Chelsea, and both Mancs)? What do we need to bounce back up into that group fighting for fourth?

Be interesting to see if other Reds see things the same way I do?

 

Most people just don't like Liverpool.

 

Always been rather indifferent to Spurs fans. Prior to Redknapp's management at least, they were a bit of a fickle bunch, so it was and still is difficult to take them seriously

in terms of being behind the main contenders for 4th place, we still need at least one, but probably two, strikers, and we need more squad depth.

 

The city, the people or the club?

 

All three.

 

The bitterness and jealousy on their 'mouser' thread is funny, and the resident Watford fan on there is as twisted as the rest.

Best to leave them to it, that thread was designed to get reactions. I stick to the Liverpool board and sometimes venture over to other boards (not for wum'ing purposes). People are entitled to their own opinion, so if they think they're in a better position, a bigger club etc. let them carry on thinking it, I take the 'mouser watch' thread as a compliment, if we weren't a big team would they bother?

 

Yeah I love a dude who takes his name after a guy who thinks disabled children are so, as a punishment by god.

Anything typed by a loon who idolises a loon can not be taken Seriously nor the sheep that follow along behind him.

Luckily they seem to have stopped posting on this board, well until today that is lol....

As for us being behind them league wise, there's no argument there. I believe what's needed has been started, just need to wait it out and smile quietly as they bask in their also ran glory.

You name one spurs fan and from that call all of us obsessed?

Most of the posts from any set of fans on another board tend to be wind ups.

As for us being fickle....to some extent I agree but then ALL clubs have fickle fans and loyal fans.

Your treatment of Konchesky (sp?) and Hodgson could easily be construed as fickle.

I think that these website are cool but the down side is that it leads to some people (in this case HIAG) get under the skins of other fans and this leads to false rivalries.

I am very anti Liverpool (just the team) cos my mum married a child beating sack of **** glory hunting pool fan and cos when I was at school I was surrounded by pool fans in London and not a single one of them had any connection to Liverpool. Oh and you beat us 7 nil when I was 11 years old... and boy did I get stick for that in school !!!!!

 

Some of the Hillsborough **** that was posted on the mouser thread(pre the outcome of the independent inquiry) and Heysel isn't/wasn't banter it was hate.
If one of us posted something about the murder of PC Blakelock for example would it would be seen as banter?

Still Spurs are a top successful European club now so it's ok.

 

My take on it is, they now think they are one of the big boys (maybe they are) but they cannot very well go and mock Arsenal or Chelsea fans banging on about how good/successful they are as both rivals out perform them year on year so they have pinpointed the next big team they can mock.

 

Thats just the way they are. Honestly, they celebrate Arsenal losing a goal more than they do scoring themselves.

 

Spurs are an irrelevant club who sacked a nitwit and appointed an imbecile. If Jose Mourinho thinks Villas Boas is a clown, thats good enough for me. I trust his judgement. He constantly raves about Brendan Rodgers. You cannot get a higher endorsement than one from the Special one. Seeing as the Special one was once involved in a love triangle with two mirrors.

 

I've read plenty of **** by fans of other clubs but don't lump them all in together.

As for me and most spurs fans we remember Hillsbrough in 81 so were clear who was to blame. You're right ... some things ain't banter and most of us have NEVER chanted or written anything bad about Hillsbrough.

And to be honest I think it's a cheap shot ... this thread was not about that it was about football banter... I have made my beliefs known on this board about both Hillsbrough and Hysel and have been well received.

There was one hell of an argument about Suarez (I ain't getting into it) and I read **** things from pool fans and other stuff I didn't agree with but don't lump you all in together with some of the pig ignorant stuff that a TINY MINORITY wrote.

It's like me claiming ALL pool fans are obsessed with united...or all Liverpool players are obsessed with Everton cos Gerrard mouths off at Everton being like Stoke

Dunno what you're talking about. Do you even know what fickle means? If you do, then our 'treatment' of Hodgson and Konchesky could be a lot of things, but never fickle.

That said, I do agree with the main point, that every football club has its portion of fickle fans. Just that the % of fickle fans seems higher in teams from London. But that's just my impression, could be totally wrong, but it does seem that way with teams like Arsenal and Spurs for example. Couple of good results and they are title challengers, a couple of bad ones and the manager is ill suited to the team and has taken it as far as he can.

I also agree that its unfair to lump every fan in with the vocal minority on your board. As you're just unfortunate that you have ended up supporting the same club as Hoddle the window licker and other Spurs fans who are regulars on the sunshine bus.

 

I know, why don't you create a thread about it on our board? I'm sure that will solve the issue and won't encourage them to venture over here anymore
