Spurs boss plays down Mirko Vucinic talk and admits Assou-Ekotto will stay at QPR Tottenham have been linked with a move for Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic in recent weeks but Tim Sherwood will see how his squad copes before making a decision regarding any new signings. It was announced yesterday that Jermain Defoe has been sold to Major League Soccer side Toronto, though will remain at White Hart Lane until February 28 as the US game is currently in its off-season. It leaves Spurs with only two experienced forwards in Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor but Sherwood is not concerned. âWeâre always looking [at players] but [signing a striker] is not something which is pressing,â the 44-year-old said. âI think weâve got enough goals from different positions in the squad. We have Soldado and Adebayor, whoâs in a rich vein of form at the moment. âNacer Chadli and Erik Lamela can play off the front. Gylfi Sigurdssonâs got a good eye for a goal and a good scoring record. Harry Kane is another young boy who can come in. âUnless something happened drastically to one of those boys in the meantime we may act, but weâve not got any intention to do that now.â Sherwood has confirmed that Benoit Assou-Ekotto will remain at QPR for the rest of the season. The Cameroon international said he hoped to return to White Hart Lane following Sherwoodâs appointment as Andre Villas-Boasâ successor. But the Spurs boss said the left-back âwill stay where he isâ for the remainder of the campaign. Young midfielder Tom Carroll, who is also on loan at Loftus Road, may return though to help him recover from his recent fitness problems. When asked whether Carroll could be recalled this month, Sherwood said: âPossibly, but we are monitoring the situation to see if he can come back to fitness here and how long it might take.â Sherwood tasted defeat for the first time since his appointment as full-time boss last weekend when Tottenham lost 2-0 at Arsenal in the FA Cup. Ten first-team players were unavailable for the north London derby through injury, but Andros Townsend, Defoe and Sigurdsson are back for the Palace match. http://www.london24.com/sport/totte...dmits_assou_ekotto_will_stay_at_qpr_1_3199981
