"Spurs playmaker Rafael van der Vaart has warned Arsenal not to get carried away with their win over Chelsea, insisting Spurs are still the best team in north London." (Source: The Metro) The North London power-shift is complete, my friends. Oops! No! It was Rafael van der Vaart of Spurs
Can yu imagine how many goals Persie would get playing infront of the Spurs midfield?? i think we should put a cheeky bid in for him...maybe offer them Pavluchenko with the theory that he may revive Arshavins talents and a crate of volvic
When Van Persie spends his annual 3-4 month mid-seaon break on the treatment table, it will be beyond doubt.
Seriously though, if he doesn't renew his contract at Arsenal it is worth a bid. I've heard many times that Rafa is one of RVP's best mates in football so I'm sure he could persuade him into joining Spurs.
RVP is pure quality. If he ever signed for Spurs, Arsenal fans would start understanding why Spurs fans were so bitter about Campbell crossing the divide. I cannot understand how a player with a goal:game ratio of 1+ in the calendar year 2011 did NOT feature in the World player of the year award. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Had RVP, like King, not had a good chunk of his career hampered by injury after injury, I reckon he could have easily been one of the best footballers in the world. Despite being a Spurs fan, and RVP having the most punchable face in the Premiership (he just does), I actually admire and like RVP a tremendous amount. He's brilliant. He could walk into any team in the world, bar Barcelona (they just don't need anyone).
Who wouldn't? He'd walk into our side and given his pace, movement, agility and precision, he'd fit right in with the likes of Bale, Lennon, Modric and VdV. It does make you wonder though. How many promising / brilliant footballers have had their careers blighted by injury? How much better would they be had they not been injured. Excluding the first season (04/05) at Arsenal, where he was a squad player, in 6 full seasons, he's only featured in 130 Premier League games out of 228, just 57% of games. That's an awful statistic, yet he has managed 61 goals in that period., at an average of 1 in 2.13. Bearing in mind that he rarely gets a consistent run due to injury, that again is an incredible statistic. Now that he is getting a good run in the league, he's unstoppable. Shame really.... Such a talent.
