Sours move to Wemberlee. Confirmed. How will their physical pressing game work out on Wembley's big pitch, especially in latter stages of matches. Will Poch have to change Spurs' home tactics? https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...leaving-white-hart-lane-wembley-end-of-season Recent record at the home of football: 2008/09 League Cup Man Utd Lost on penalties 2009/10 FA Cup Portsmouth Lost 2-0 2011/12 FA Cup Chelsea Lost 5-1 2014/15 League Cup Chelsea Lost 2-0 2016/17 Champions League Monaco Lost 2-1 2016/17 Champions League Bayer Leverkusen Lost 1-0 2016/17 Champions League CSKA Moscow Won 3-1 2016/17 Europa League Gent Drew 2-2 2016/17 FA Cup Chelsea Lost 4-2
That big pitch at Wembley does not suit the Spuds' high pressing game. They are a physical side who like to close down the spaces, but they will not be able to do that at Wembley as effectively. I can see the likes of Leicester having a field day with them on that pitch, as one ball over the top will expose their whole back line. Add to this, the bigger picture about the cost of the new stadium build and trying to keep their best players / meet their wage demands alongside other CL clubs and next season could be a defining one for Spurs as to whether they build on this season, or go back to being all Spursy again.
This is a great move for us. Our natural passing game will take the piss out of teams, and our possession with have teams chasing shadows. We can make Wembley our fortress. COYS!
Plus on top of that we can make a few extra Bob and piss a few Gooners/chavs off in the process. P.s Have you noticed how the OP is concerned a lot about Spurs's fortunes next season? Personally, I think he's hedging his bets again incase he has to start supporting us.
Stupid question maybe but will they be allowed to make the pitch smaller given they'll be there every other week rather than just the odd European game?
We did indeed try other places first. A ground share with the Spammers was mooted, but they refused. Obviously, we will need to adjust, but we will. It may take a few games, but MP is a smart coach, we'll adapt alright. It's a disruptive couple of years alright. Wembley next year, then the new stadium the year after.
I think the sliding pitch is one of the things that will take more time. The old WHL will be partially absorbed into the new stadium. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...s-incredible-new-ground-s-stadium-future.html
I think it's disgusting that the National stadium is being rented out like this. It's not Spurs fault, but the FA have just removed what was left about a 'earning'a trip to play on the hallowed turf and thus any remnants of it being a truly special occasion, the set of 2 bob cock wombles
It's quite common elsewhere though and they have to play somewhere. Chelsea are doing it too which makes less sense with Twickenham round the corner but the residents didn't like the fact they'd bought properties near a stadium and now that stadium was going to host sports.
Where they play isn't the FA's problem and they should have put the preservation of the Wembley experience before the cash imo.
