A point was the minimum we needed coming out of that. Disappointed with the draw but under the circumstances it would a good result considering the refereeing was so one sided, usually what happens when Mike Dean gets this fixture though. I thought we started the game poorly, but from 30 minutes onward we took control and once Mata came on we went up another gear and they had no answer to us really. Torres was also excellent and the red was undeserved, shame it can't be rescinded. Onwards and upwards I guess.
Showed we are superior. Very unhappy with a point; we deserved the 3 there. Also showed Spurs to not be title contenders in my opinion. When we played second half they were clueless.
Agree. I was impressed with the response at going a goal down. Important thing is to get a win in Bucharest and Norwich before the break, we should really be winning games like today but it was near impossible under the circumstances. Once we start scoring the first goal in away matches our lives will be made easier. Cech has had virtually nothing to do in all 3 away PL matches yet we only have 1/9.
Regardless, if he's not sent off then it doesn't justify a sending off later. In football, two wrongs don't make a right.
How was it clear when it took dozens of replays to identify an alleged scratch? It doesn't excuse the fact Dean consistently caved into the crowd and more or less gave every 50/50 decision their way, the Torres red card typified that.
I think SJW meant clear as in unarguable, not as in obvious at the time. I take it you wouldn't dispute it had he been clocked doing it, DL?
I don't dispute it at all I just reject the suggestion it was clear. Apologies if SJW meant otherwise but the comment literally came at the same time I was having an argument with a Spurs fan on Facebook over the suggestion Dean was "blind" for not seeing the scratch.
He was okay to be fair. He's being fouled a lot though. He'll get back to it, it's been a slow start.
I'm not surprised that he missed it, but he would've had a good chance of catching it if he was at a decent angle, as he was coming over to book Torres for the trip. I'd expect him to be behind Vertonghen though, so it probably looked relatively harmless and it's understandable that he didn't see it. Two reds for one game? Be interesting to see what they do.
Mata displayed his class when he came on, and was a joy to watch. That ball for the Terry goal was just perfect. Should have been man of the match.
Dembele was good but I was amazed a Chelsea player didn't get MOTM. It should have been given to Lloris or Vertonghen if it went to a Spurs player. In the first half Vertonghen was excellent.
What would you suggest? Booking for Vertonghen for the grab, booking for Torres for the trip and a straight red for Torres for the face scratch, perhaps?
Bore off. Nobody is crying, you were in uproar after the game at Wembley over Mata's (wrongly allowed) goal, a game which you lost 5-1 anyway.
