For me, the key word is 'personality' and in this context it means media personality ie someone you want to hear interviewed talking knowledgeably about what they do and with some sparkle and fun. So, on that basis, it is between: Mo Farah. Speak well, good role model and love the MoBot. Laura Trot / Kenny. Seems like a really pleasant woman and I don't understand where all that power comes from such a slight frame. Loved her emotions as she watched Kenny in the keirin. Alistair Brownlee. Huge respect for triathletes and seems a well grounded lad. I love what Nick Skelton has done and huge respect for his perseverance but unlikely to win. Then there is Murray. Amazing to have a Brit No 1 tennis player. I've forgiven him for the England footie comment which I think was twisted by the media (surprise, surprise). Just struggle ever so slightly with the concept of 'personality'!
I would give it to Nick Skelton.Great to see a 56 year old win an Olympics gold medal. There is hope for some of us owl lads lol. There are doubts surrounding Mo in terms of how clean he is or not. Murray has zero personality.
So did Steve Davies and Nick Faldo. Damon Hill won it twice would you believe. Andy Murray's name is written all over it.
Skelton. Broke his neck...comes back to win a gold Adams an unbeatable girl boxer.. But Murray has spent the whole year doing something we never thought would happen...he has turned into quite a warm human being....never thought it would happen...wins it for me
I can't see anyone else winning other than Murray. What he's achieved at the age of 29 ( relatively old for a tenniser ) is brilliant. It can't be long before he receives a knighthood. Other than that Skelton is a great shout as is the double gold paralympian sprinter Libby Clegg.
Although I don't like 'The jock in a frock' Murray I think he will win it and it is well deserved. Would love Nick Skelton to win it. See Skelton is 8/1 to be in top 3 so might have a punt on that.
I think everyone is overlooking the behind the scene achievements of one James Mackie. He has to be the standout sportsperson of the year. There can be no greater club man than our James with his continual off field achievements which would curb even his most ardent critic. I hear he has impressed Halloway so much, Ollie is keen to brake another one of his legs, just to keep him at the club. JM in a nutshell, next!
It's another **** BBC show with a massive build up to usually very little IMO But it seems people enjoy it as it hooks into British achievements and justifies the millions wasted on the London Olympics
The London Olympics was money well spent as it enabled many people to forget their **** lives for a bit. I agree on SPOTY though, I haven't watched it for years.
