Well, who do you think should be Sports Personality of the Year? BBC are losing so many sports to other broadcasters you'll soon get all their personalities in a taxi, but this year I think Greg Rutherford would be a worthy winner. Not one of the 'glamour' athletes he always rises to the occasion...
You beat me to it sooper, was about to start a thread about this. Why is it called sports personality of the year? All the nomenees have excelled at their chosen sports but should we vote for there achevments or by how much we like them?
It's a bit of both I'd say. If there was a winner who was unpopular it would seem odd, take Tyson Fury, he's a bit Marmite so I wouldn't be surprised if he was Top 3 but would be surprised if he won it...
I am loving this This is a brilliant show and format Haven't seen it for years Tour de France Froome for me There isn't a tougher sport IMO Or Tyson Fury love the man
I think this is pointless and unfair tbh. The more commercial sports like football or F1 if you can call that a sport have an unfair advantage over say swimming. The more popular ones will get more votes every time.
Tempted to vote for Fury in defence of free speech but as a plodding jogger, probably Mo for me. Maybe Ennis-Hill. Lewis was last year's winner.
True. In terms of grit, determination and fitness, what can compete with the Tour but relatively small following in the UK.
UK sport is outstanding Froome for me in a sport that is full of cheats. This bloke is not one which makes his achievement even greater IMO
Being an ex F1 fanatic who still watches it and likes Lewis Hamilton, he would not get my vote based on his personality.
Not for me you have to witness some the hills around my gaff in France to realise the task ... You can't make them on a mountain bike or in places walk up them. Yet watching them go up them at speed is a sight to beyond They train doing descents close to me and you need balls to do it in a car Up and down and 100 miles a day sometimes can't blame a few having the old smarty here and there
