A while back, correct me if I am wrong, Deeney grabbed a hat-trick. He wrestled the ball off Fabrinni? who was fouled to take the pen, the last? of his 3 goals. Later he said something along the lines of 'so long as I am on the pitch I take the pens' However, he was on the pitch last night when we were awarded a pen. I may be wrong on all this but surely my memory isn't that bad. <whistle> I am pleased McGugan took it and scored. Anyone know the deal on all this? Do we have a penalty taker? Was Deeney giving it too much after his hatrick? Or is it playground stuff and first to grab the ball when the ref points to the spot...

He missed one at Blackpool didn't he? Maybe he is lacking in confidence and so it was decided he wouldn't take this one. There doesn't appear to have been much argument between the two so looks like on this occasion Deeney agreed with the decision. He needs a lucky miss-hit goal to give confidence or a pen when we are already two up late on!

Maybe it's so we know we've got it covered in the event a shoot-out is needed next Tuesday!

I believe that Troy allowed Lewis to take the penalty because he realised that Lewis is in good form of late and Troy's head might not be quite in the game. Penalty taking is more about the mental state of a player than anything. It doesn't take a lot of skill to take one, but it takes a lot of mental ability and focus. Once Deeney starts scoring again he will take them, until then he is probably happy for others to. So long as they score.

No WY, you are not wrong. FF definitely didn't want to give the ball up, however I got the impression that even if Zola had marched on and ordered that Troy take it, Lewis was not going to be denied.
