I had the opportunity to watch a lot of Bournemouth when Sean was in charge. He has always had this 'persona' and it's because he is shy. Pure and simple. I met him a couple of times at functions and he is exactly the same when the cameras are off and he is amongst friends/players. It's just the way he is.

When he went to Doncaster it was interesting to see that he took a very long time to win them over. He doesn't appeal to the working class northerner and they were calling for his head 6 months into the job because he was considered aloof and odd but he produced a team that won promotion playing attractive football.

The Forest fans loved him and could see that he was an intelligent man and they were gutted when he lost his job there.

We have a diamond. From listening to him talk at the last Fans Parliament I have absolute faith that he will get us promoted this season and we will do it playing attractive football.

My only concern is that if we were to have a run of poor form the knuckle scrapers on here would have their knives sharpened because he doesn't come across as passionate or hard.

He should be managing in the Premier League and we should cherish him while he is here.

    Another sensible comment below-

Well Del boy didn't have a clue but was plausible for a while and was fooling some people right up to the end! I don't care what his media relationships are like + I don't want to be his best mate and go out drinking with him. What I care about is that he's giving us what we've lackd since gj lost the plot. A clear sense of direction!

Exactly mate. For the first time in a long time we do have a sense of direction!

I just think everyone should embrace the change and new era he wants to take the club through. He's not doing it for himself like some other managers would as a stepping stone. It's the first time during my time as a City fan that I have witnessed anything like it. I think the closest to this was when Pulis left and the youngsters got a chance. Apart from that most managers have looked for a quick fix or have been in it for themselves and it's often ended with many a broken promise. W need to let SoD see this through. It's exciting times and it's nice not being spun the same old lines and cliches.

We will need a lot of patience and everyone should give him that. It's not as if to say any other ideas from other managers have worked in the past. I remember in the build up to Millen's second season in charge he said the aim was to get in the play offs. Ridiculous. Even more so when he had only signed Killa, Bolasie and Ryan Taylor that summer only to get well beaten on the opening day by a bang average Ipswich side.

I think SoD's handling of the media is great. I often enjoy his blunt and down to the point answers. I think people get brainwashed into thinking that every manager has to have the charisma of a Mourinho to be a success. If every manager was the same it would be boring.

Wow..... Is this what im like with marv to you lot?

SOD is a good manager RR but lets not praise him like this just yet. The only thing he has on his Bristol city CV so far is relegation. Now I believe we will have a good season and promotion is a possibility but I wont go as far as you with the praise just yet

Yes Shiny thats what you have been like with Marve in the past

But to get back to the post Sean s doing his level best to change a club from top to bottom in about 12 months to reverse a climate of defeatism that goes back to the Coppout debacle it was a pity that GJ's bad time came when it did if it had been a bit closer to the end of the season things might have been different if he could have gone away for a few weeks and completely forgotten about football he could have come back and been refreshed and ready for the challenge like when he returned to Yeovil, but that is in the past, since he left we have been rather like a rudderless ship under SC and KM it looked for a couple of months that DM was the man to give us direction but he forgot where the steering wheel was whilst trying to sort out the Academy.

Sean O'Dricoll does talk a lot of sense even if you do have to sometimes work out what he is saying because he has the habit of going round the houses to say it.

Burt, O'Driscoll and Pemberton all seem to be of a like mind in the sort of players they want and the way they want them to play
reading everything O'Driscoll has said about the Bristol City way of playing it seems like he is hankering back to the Big John days and later the Alan Dicks days when we played proper joined up football yes under Danny Wilson we did for a while as well but DW lost it at the end and for some reason known only to himself went completely defensive with a team that was all about attack.
O'Driscoll has the way he wants the team to play set out the players know what that is and seem to find it an attractive proposition and he has managed to attract players to this club that we wouldn't have expected being that we are in L1 this season a couple more of that ilk would do nicely, I was really getting optimistic before the Kelly injury now it is going to depend on who we get to replace him and Davies because After Christmas is BEST CASE for his sort of injury it could be the complete season.
Can Baldock develop into the sort of striker we thought he was going to be or is he going to be SickNote for the rest of his time at the Gate? or could we try playing Albert up top he knows where the net is and his speed would cause all sorts of problems for opponents his weakness his lack of arial ability wouldn't be so obvious if we are keeping the ball on the ground more. OK S O'D has a lot to do to make this collection of players a winning team but I think he has made a good start with the players signed so far.

I'd rather have all my eggs in one basket than try and carry them all by hand.
