Watching the News and they're report on Celtic winning in the SPL and all I can think is Whats the point in the SPL? For years its been a 2 team league (since 1985 in fact) now with Rangers being punished its a 1 team league, seriously they may as well give Celtic the title now and be done with it. I know that the Scots will never agree to do it, but wouldn't alot of their teams and eventually the national team benefit from leaving the SPL and joining the English leagues similar to the bigger Welsh clubs?
Roger, Celtic cant be blamed for Rangers cheating for years, Sevco 5088 are going to be back in the SPL in 5yrs. Since they got their just punishment the scare mongering about the league and Scottish football not surviving has been shown to be untrue. Hibs, Hearts or Dundee Utd will push Celtic this season and next season Celtic will downgrade wages and signings in accordance with the lesser income due to Rangers demise and therefore give the other SPL teams a better chance of catch up/winning it. As you say mate the Scots wont agree with a move to English football because they are scared of losing their national identity in the eyes of Uefa and Fifa and the English wouldn't allow it due to teams being forced unfairly further down the money chain and qualifying for membership of the professional game. Imo.
Rangers weren't punished. Rangers received a ten point deduction for going into administration last season. The club's now being liquidated, due to years of cheating. Sevco are a new entity, playing at their stadium. They've been unfairly admitted into a league where one of the pre requisites (having 3 years audited accounts) has been overlooked to accomodate them. Sevco aka The Rangers are very lucky to be where they are. But don't let the facts get in the way of your pissy arse rant. Hash, ban this ****.
Ban Yourself. I was asking a question as to how competitive the SPL can possibly be. I was in no way absolving the former Rangers ownership for there misdeeds nor was a I saying that Rangers arent lucky to still be in existence. My point was to do with how it will affect the SPL, its reputation and its competition in what was already a struggling league. And if the Scottish clubs would be happy with Celtic winning every year for the foreseeable future.
Everyone's playing by the rules now. That's something that should be considered. If you've seen Celtic this season and indeed last, you'd know nothing is being taken for granted. The talk is next year, the structure of the leagues will be changing, or bent, to accomodate Sevco. Unfortunately, it seems it is all about the tv money/sponsorship etc. A bit ****e, but the SPL has been ****e for a while. But it's our ****e.
A pox on both Celtic and Rangers. Page concludes that the destruction of the SPL has been proved to be a myth. I don't agree. Let's see what the financial state of the majority of SPL clubs is like at the end of the season.
Three different words: There, their, they're. Can people please read a dictionary because I'm bored ****less reading posts with poor grammar.
Noblelox is that you? I've heard of disguises, but an Australian Swansea fan? Interesting. Does every LFC fan except me have two or more accounts? How many people are actual here? Am I here? What's going on?
