Ok so a bit off topic with a big game coming up tonight but I was just wondering what fans in the championship thought about Rangers looking at trying to play in the EPL ( and other euro leagues as well to be fair). I am against it myself, not because I'm anti Scottish, far from it but because it would mean 2 English/Welsh teams missing out (assuming Celtic would join as well). It seems a bit unfair and if it was to happen then at the very least I would expect them to start at the bottom such as Wimbeldon and FC United have. Then of cause there's the sectarian side of things, and whilst I love Neil Lennon and have the up most respect for him, I do worry about the Celtic fans in particular, they are not the most appreciative of the English and what we stand for, even now they glorify the IRA and won't move on! Anyway, probably never happen, let's hope it doesn't.
I don't even see why Swansea and Cardiff are allowed in the English league tbh. You're right it will probably never happen and rightly so. It's not our responsibility to bail out Scottish football from the **** that it's in. Things are fine the way they are and I can't see any benefit for the Premiership or the Football League if Celtic and Rangers were involved. Interesting what you say about Celtic, as I don't believe the majority of them would support such a move.
I think when Cardiff and Swansea were founded, there was no Welsh league so they had to join the English leagues to get some games and they have stayed ever since. There are other Welsh teams lower down the pyramid as well (Wrexham, Newport County, Merthyr Tydfill). I don't think Rangers and Celtic should join the English leagues. They're in the Scottish leagues and that's where they should stay. I don't think many fans of either club will be happy with that, neither the SFA nor FA will be happy with it and they certainly shouldn't join straight into the EPL. They should be made to start in the lower leagues and I think that would put them right off. Unless the FA are desperate for them to join, I don't think this will happen any time soon.
