    Spit in the wrong direction

    Wigan Athletic captain Antolin Alcaraz admitted to a charge of spitting at an opponent and is banned for three games.

    But what he should have claimed is that he was only spitting back what he had thought had been spat in his direction - and then waited to see if anyone could prove otherwise.

    I believe this is known as the 'Terry Defence'.<laugh>
