Sad news that the hugely talented but unlucky horse Spirit Son has been put down in his home Greatwood! Such a shame, he was plagued with injury but the form of his SN hurdle was outstanding with Cue Card and Sprinter Sacre behind him and only Al Ferof in front! In my eyes would have deniably been a champion hurdler! RIP <peacedove>

Cigar has also passed away - one who, unlike Spirit Son, was able to fulfill his potential by winning the inaugral Dubai World Cup.

Two wonderful animals famous for very differing reasons.

What Spirit Son did to Cue Card at Aintree was frightening. An undoubted Champion Hurdle future star and would now have been at his peak.

Cigar was before my time so I will read up tonight :)
