If the wage cap were to be effective the playing field would be more level. The Club needs to build on the existing wonderful supporter base and over time seek the situation were demand requires an increase in ground capacity. If we can achieve that alongside continued league position improvement then the gap may be narrowed significantly.
As things stand Clubs like Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool are physically restricted on possible ground development. We have the space and planning approval to expand greatly.
I'm not saying it will happen, merely that there is the potential for it to happen. The Club need over a long period of time to reclaim the supporter base in places like South Tyneside, Washington and along the north-south railway link.

South Tyneside is 50/50, always has been and always will be.

I don't see how the wage cap could level it out.

For instance say Messi is getting 250k a week, what are the laws around making somebody take a wage cut? Can you do that once they have signed a contract? At the end of the day even if they capped it at 100k a week, it's still only the top end clubs who are going to be able to afford to pay top wages like that.

Noticed it was Man utd started this earlier this summer, they jealous that Man city have taken the title off them, it's no good to all of the clubs if they say you can only spend what's coming in, they should be saying this is how much you'll pay for a player's position i.e £10 mill for a top European striker, this is how much you will actually pay in salary to this striker i.e £35,000/yr, any thing else will be kept in trust for their retirement, clubs will not pay agents fees, the player will. It's all very well saying all this, but, the FA don't have the bottle to do this, I stated in another post regarding Ronaldo & his proposed £95 mill move to Man City that I contacted the FA about this, they are frightened of being held to ransom by the big clubs saying they won't release players to the England squad, if this happened the FA should tell the club that they won't be asked again, see how long the player stays at that club after that!

The agent thing has always bothered me.
They're employed by the player so he should pay them.

If I hired a bloke to landscape my garden I wouldn't expect my boss to pay him.
