Just wondering, if you think you weren't speeding, then why contest it on a technicality? Tell them you weren't speeding and ask for the evidence!

You are a Saint supporter are you not? We don't want to lose you. I wasn't accusing you personally of speeding as I couldn't possibly know the facts, no I have NEVER exceeded the speed limit, I can't drive.

Which is a pretty vague answer as the A34 has speed limits ranging from 30mph upto 60mph. It isn't classified a motorway along any part of its length so, as far as I can make out, that would explain the speeding fine.

Actually BillVegas, I think people are just pulling your leg a bit. We are all sympathising in our own way. :)
 
I'm a TVP Traffic cop so can answer your question.

The NIP must be served within 14 days from time of offence to the REGISTERED keeper of the vehicle....if its a company car then the fleet manager will recieve it, send off the driver details then a new NIP sent to the driver.

The 14 days do not apply if you were CAUTIONED rodaside by an Officer as this is deemed as a 'verbal NIP' and suffice.

To summarise: If you are the REGISTERED keeper of the vehicle and you recieved the NIP after 14 days then it falls outside of the legal requirements and you may challenge it.

To challenge you can either plead not guilty and ask for a Court appearance OR send in a covering letter NOT NOT NOT a 'Template' from some 'Loophole' firm as they recognise these straight away from other failed attempts to avoid prosecution (not lumping you in this category btw) and tend to continue with them.

Your covering letter just needs to highlight the obvious..i recieved this letter 14 days after the time of offence, is this correct? and so on, be polite but firm.

The A34 from Winchester to Oxford is a duel carriageway. Except for a short section at either end it's 70mph for it's entire length.
