Wenger says there is no point in Arsenal competing in the last 16 and they are better off in Europa League

 

If you read the article he is saying that it is a quirk that teams that finish 3rd in the group stages can continue in Europe longer than teams that finish 2nd and that being in Europa League gives them a chance at the title.

at least we didn't get knocked out at home by 10 men by playing negative football !

 

It could have been a lot worse for the Gunners - they could have been drawn against Barca.

 

I actually think Arsenal would have done better against Barca than City did. Don't get me wrong, I still think their would only be one winner over the two legs, but I think they would have caused Barca's defence some problems, at least.

 

Wenger's right about the dropdown into the Europa League being bloody stupid, but his tearful rant about away goals was pretty embarrassing.
Does anyone really have an issue with it, barring teams that get knocked out by it?

 

I agree, maybe the losing semi-finalists should go into the Europa League final.
